Description:

I love the idea of a special little 'quilt' mat for my cup of coffee, cocoa or tea. It beats a napkin or junk mail envelope to protect my desk and table from unsightly rings. So ... for this swap you will sew a little mug rug for you partner. I encourage you to consider color likes and dislikes when you choose your fabric. A few guidelines;

  • at least 10 type 3 swaps completed on your profile

  • use 100 % cotton fabric

  • at least three different fabrics

  • at least four separate squares, strips, etc sewn together using the three or more fabrics of your choice

  • to cover all sizes of mugs and leave room for some goodies,
    let's have the finished measurement be at least 6" x 8". It will look just like a placemat but smaller

I will check back once a day or more should anyone have questions. Thank you in advance for joining my swap!

I've always wanted to attempt to make one of these, is there a tutorial around?

I'd love to try this! :) I'd also love it if there is a tutorial...I'm better at hand sewing than machine sewing LOL

wow - thanks everyone for the tutorial links! I've been searching for an easy one that might benefit all levels of crafters and hadn't found one that seemed right. If I find any to add to the already awesome list I will. thanks, gals! ;)

here's another you might like - parts of this tute are confusing to me but I think just looking at the photos one could figure out how to make it.
