QnT 1930 Half Square Triangles #1 February 13, 2012 thru March 19, 2012 1930’s Print Half Square Triangles = 4 1/2†finished block with one side 1930’s print, one side white, or white tone-on-tone 2 partners each to receive 15 finished 4 1/2†1930’s HST’s = total 30 HST’s made and sent Start with one 5†1930’s print fabric charm (charms = a square cut of 100% cotton fabric, in this case 5â€), and one white 5†charm. Place the two charms right sides together. Using your ruler and a pencil, draw a straight line on the back of the white print from the upper left hand corner down to the lower right hand corner. Stitch a scant ¼†seam either side of the pencil line. Cut on the pencil line. Press gently so as not to stretch the block. Trim the dog ears, and then trim the block to 4 1/2 inches using the center seam line as your base. Always trim and press for success. You may send up to 4 matching 1930’s HST’s to each partner. That means that you can use four 5†1930’s print charms alike because after they are sewn and cut you will have 8 matching blocks. We’ve found that the higher the contrast between the dark side and the light side the better the HST’s work in any project, but with white as the light side you can just about use any 1930’s print for the dark side. Any questions or concerns are welcome, please PM me. |
