Description:

I absolutely LOVE whimsy jars, but the swaps are always USA/Canada based, so I thought I would give everyone in Europe the chance to do a whimsy jar swap! :)

There's no theme for this jar, just random items. If this swap becomes popular then I'd love to host some more with themed whimsy jars!

Rules:

  • Must have 4.95 rating or higher
  • Must have completed at least 10 Type 3 Swaps
  • No unexplained 1s or 3s
  • No newbies sorry

You will have 1 parter and you will send them 1 filled whimsy jar. You MUST decorate the lid of the jar, but it is up to you if you decorate the jar/glass part. You must totally fill the jar full with random items. Please don't fill it with just the same thing (eg just buttons)

Ideas of things to include:

  • Buttons
  • Trinkets
  • Stickers
  • Embellishments
  • Beads
  • Ribbon
  • Findings
  • Small individually wrapped candy
  • Crafty items
  • Rubber stamp
  • Brads
  • Decotape

And anything else small and whimsical you can think of! :)

You can find jars to buy in places like Hobbycraft, Tesco, Wilkinsons, cooking/kitchen shops, thiftstores/poundshops, markets etc

If you are unsure of what whimsy jars are just take a look on Flickr

You will have 2 weeks to put your jar together (and decorate the lid!) after the sign up deadline. Jars aren't profile based, but it would be nice to check your partners profile to see if they have any favourite colours etc. Happy swapping! :)

Ooooh, love the idea! I always wanted to join a swap, but as you wrote they often USA only! Have a question how big the jar has to be? Do I have to buy one or can I use a jar I have at home (marmalde jar for example). Sorry, when its a stupid question, but it would be my first jar swap:-)

Oh my! Finally a Europe version of it! I can't wait to join it, but just like @Bee1981 I need to know about the size of jar, it's my first jar swap too! :) Anyway, great swap idea!

OH MY!!! There IS a God, and her name is Ebony!! :D

I've been DESPERATE to do a whimsy jar swap for ages!! BUT, like the rest of you, I've only found U.S. ones.

My daughter and I were actually talking about themes for a planned series of them, so we've got tons of ideas for future swaps if this one goes down well!!

Yay I'm so glad that people are excited about this swap! I knew I wouldn't be the only one waiting for a whimsy jar swap in Europe :)

Good question about the jar! I'm thinking that one with capacity of 0.5 litre/900grams should be a good enough size, and not too big/heavy to mail :)

I guess yeah you can use a jar you already have at home, just make sure it is really clean, I'm sure your partner won't want marmalade on their items! :)

Sounds like there would be good interest for a UK one too...???

Only a few more days to sign up! Come on watchers, join in :)

Hooray! A whimsey jar swap I can actually participate in! And incidentally I would definitely sign up for a UK-specific one, too. :)

@ghostparty Yay! Thanks for joining :)

If anyone is interested in a UK whimsy jar swap, PM me and if there's good interest then I'll set one up for the very near future :)

Yikes!!! I just got an emAil saying I hadn't sent.... I HAVE!!

I normally mark them as sent AS soon as I hand them over at the post office, but I was in such a rush to get it posted off on friday (just got to the PO in time) that I clean forgot to click.

Sorry if I worried anyone who thought I hadn't sent
