Description:

Since the former "Vomit Squares" coordinator is no longer creating those swaps, I decided to create something similiar myself.

For this swap you will have 1 partner. You will send 100 squares to your partner. You are allowed up to 2 of each fabric, so the least you can have is 50 different fabrics. I will allow up to 20 solids in this round.

In addition to the squares, you will also send your partner 1 sewing related item as well as one small item you have made for them. Some ideas are:

"Sewing related items" - thread, thread ripper, sewing needles, bias tape, thimble, scissors, rotary cutter blades, fabric marking pencil, pins, bobby pins (great for holding the binding on a quilt!), safety pins, magnetic pin holder, etc.

Price for sewing related item can be any price, since sewing/quilting items can vary so widely. Just make sure it is a quality item you are sending, and not some junk that will fall apart in a week.

"Small item you have made" - pin cushion, scissor sleeve, pin cushion/scrap bag thingy...lol, mug rug, key fob, etc.

These are only ideas, you can send whatever you like for either category. This just changes it up a bit and makes it a bit more interesting.

  • I will open this up for newbies, so don't disappoint, newbies!!!
  • No 1's or 3's in the last 3 months.
  • I will ban at my discretion.

I am personally looking for rotary blades (the medium size ones) and quilting pins. But of course I will be happy with whatever you send. :)

If it was just fabric I would join. As it is, I don't want extras. Also what do you mean by character fabrics?

crochetjunkie 03/14/2013 #

I mean fabric that features a licensed character...hello kitty...spiderman...etc.

MamaMay 03/14/2013 #

Ok, so some random angel, a man fishing or race cars wouldn't count against you, but PAC man, Fancy Nancy, or Disney Cars would. Would sports fabric count, like K State Windcats, the Cardnals, or NASCAR?

crochetjunkie 03/14/2013 #

You know what? no. nothing like that will count against you and even license characters are okay. just don't send 100 solids and all is good.

Ok, then I will bite. I will take anything extra, I like things like tread, ribbon, embroidery floss and buttons. I have a rather extensive likes list on my profile.

Also to whoever my partner is, I may send in two envelopes as the cost to mail 50 squares evenly spaced out us 84 cents and the cost to sent 100 squares all together is 2.50 domestically.

Also does the small item need to be sewn? Can be a small something we crocheted instead?

willap 03/27/2013 #

Yeah I'm excited and cutting squares.

crochetjunkie 03/27/2013 #

Yes the small item you have made needs to have some element of sewing to it...hand sewing or machine sewing..

MamaMay 03/28/2013 #

Awesome!

I have to put shopping for a "sewing related item" and then I can mail!
