Eight Belles

Calling all animal lovers!!

I am not a horse racing person, but I am an animal lover and did watch the Kentucky Derby yesterday and was deeply saddened by the tragic ending. It was one of the saddest things I have seen in a long, long time.

This swap is in honor of Eight Belles (the only filly in a race of boys!).

You will make a minimum $10 donation to any non-profit animal group/organization of your choice (it can be a shelter, a veterinary hospital, animal abuse prevention group, animal rescue team, etc.). The only requirement is that they work for the benefit of animals (could be horse-related or breed-specific, or not) and be non-profit.

Then you will send your partner proof of the donation (receipt, if made online or acknowledgement letter if not) and a brief explanation of why you chose that particular non-profit.

Along with the letter, you will send your partner a bell (that's "bell," not "belle") in memory of Eight Belles or another animal whose suffering and/or passing has touched you.

I don't want to tell people how to give out hearts, but, if you ask me, you deserve a heart for participating in a swap like this.
