Description:

This will be a series of swaps (one color per month) to build a well rounded stash of blender fabrics that can be used in any project.

For October the color will be Lime/Citron. Buy 2 different yards of (lime and/or citron) fabric and cut them into fat quarters. Keep one FQ of each fabric for yourself, then mail one FQ of fabric A, and one FQ of fabric B to each of 3 partners. You’ll end up with 8 FQ’s per month. Easy right?

The specifics:

Buy 100% cotton QUILT SHOP QUALITY fabrics. Don’t buy a 99 cent FQs from JoAnn and call it a day. Please aim to buy premium quilting weight fabrics. I won’t restrict it to designer fabrics since they can be pricey, but if you’re going to get it from a chain store, make sure it is high quality and that you would want to use it on your own projects. I’d say around $10 per yard retail is a reasonable price (of course you can buy it on sale to save some money).

HERE is an article on how to judge fabric quality.

No solids The fabrics should “read” one color, but have some sort of print. If you need ideas, check out the stash builders section at Pink Castle Fabrics, or search blenders by color on other sites. please no Batiks

HERE is a lovely stash building tutorial.

Choose fabrics that can be used in virtually any project (i.e. NO holiday, cartoon, novelty prints, etc.)

Here’s the schedule in case anyone wants to buy ahead:

  • October -- Lime/Citron

  • November -- Orange

  • December -- Brown/Beige

USA only due to the 2013 shipping rate increase. 4.97 rating, no unexplained recent 1s or 3s, and please have at least 10 type 2 or 3 swaps under your belt. The send by deadline is Oct. 31, so shop for deals now :)

After some input from participants I am instituting a new rule: Since you have ample time between the swap being posted and the send-by date, late senders will be asked to sit out the following month. I know life happens, please communicate before the send-by date if you are going to be late.<<

If you received 2 FQ of high quality quilting fabric in the specified color from each partner, rate a 5. You can not rate down based on taste.

Any questions? Feel free to email me, or comment below :)

If you do not meet the above rules, please message me and we'll see if we can work something out. I reserve the right to ban for any reason.

Love this color!! and I like your new rule ;)

I like the new rule, too. I got burned on the pink round of this swap and I don't want to get burned this round (I like this color better than pink, so I want all the FQs!).

@JLverde -- sorry Jenny, I didn't know you got flaked on! I didn't get any messages that people had been flaked on and I didn't see that anyone had been rated down when I checked for the blue round :( Let me know if you want an angel, I'll definitely take care of it.

I was also flaked on for the pink round. I was trying to give her the benefit of a doubt after the email she sent. I rated her a one yesterday.
