My dictionary is growing, I hope everyone else is loving how theirs is taking shape! It is time to move on to the Letter G. If you haven't been involved in this swap, you can still join, just start on G and make up the previous letters as you go. The idea is to take a page from an old dictionary, I found a perfect one at a used book store for $2. (You could use a newer dictionary also or even a copy of a dictionary page, just "age" it a little.) The page should be no smaller than 5 x 7 and no larger than 9 x 7.I think these dimensions will fit nicely into most books that folks might use, mine is 9 x 7. You highlight one word on the page- in this case a word begnning with the letter "G"- and then decorate the page. I took a composition book and decorated the front cover to use as my altered dictionary. I am saving several pages for each letter so I can have several pages from others for each letter. I paste in the pages I get from others. When I make a page, I make two...one for my partner and one for myself. When it is finished I will have a nice altered dictionary with my own art and art from others. Instead of creating an entire altered dictionary, you might just want to insert your pages into a Smash book or art journal. In order to get through the alphabet in a reasonable amount of time, we need to do 2 letter pages a month but they really are pretty quick to do and very inexpensive to mail. Joining one or a few doesn't commit you to the whole alphabet but I hope we have at least a few who want to stick it out through the whole alphabet! I have found that creating a page like this is a great "warm-up" exercise and gets my creativity going. If I have been clear as mud or left something out, please let me know or ask a question below. Thanks and come make an Altered Dictionary with us! The Page above is a beautiful D for dinosaur page that @JBromeing made for me! Thanks again Judy I love it!! |
