Description:

One of my goals this year is to make a quilt. I thought it might be fun to see who else had this goal and put together a quilt with people from around the world.

This quilt block swap is different than what I've seen because instead of sending any quilt block you made it will be related to your 2014 goals. For example;

If one of your goals is to adopt an animal from the shelter or lose ten pounds you can do something based off that. It doesn't have to be extravagant. It can be really simple if you want.

You will have two partners. You can send them the same block or different blocks for each partner.

Rate a 5 if you get a block from your partner even if you aren't a fan of what they sent you... not everyone is a master sewer.

This is seriously an awesome idea. How large must the quilt blocks be? Can they be decorated with anything-painting, embroidery, etc.?

@inamerica8 Thank you! I was thinking 6 inches by 6 inches. Yes, you can decorate them with anything you want! I hope you can join. :)

awesome I was totally looking for a quilt. The last swap I was to be in years ago was for a quilt for every month and then the host just dropped it. I was so bummed about that. I'm even thinking of starting my own quilt one based on fairy tales/folklore. But first, I'll sign up for this one. That means I have to make three squares-one each for my two partners and one for me.

Oh! I didn't even think about making one for myself but you're right! The fairy tales one is a really good idea. I would join!

That way you end up with two quilts by the year's end. :) I will see how making these blocks go and maybe in a month or so decide on the other quilt.

Just a couple more questions about the quilt blocks. (1) The material I have is sort of a natural color for the quilt-very light, but not white. Will that work? (2) I'm not much of a swere. I'm okay, but I love embellishing with paint, beads, embroidery, etc., for my blocks. Is that acceptable? (3) How should we finish the edges of the blocks?

Any color and style of decorating your blocks is acceptable. You don't have to finish off the edges as it will be sewn together with other blocks.

That makes it much easier. :)

Looks like it's just us in this one.
