@LahDeeDah hosted this fun mail art swap a few years ago in another group (I wish I had a photo of my "drawing" lol). It is for all skill levels. Blind Contour Drawing is a classic exercise in which the artist draws the subject without looking at the paper. This is appropriate for anyone at any skill level. Find a purchase a card featuring an image that appeals to you. This is sender's choice, but the card must be folded and made for mailing in the envelope with which it is sold. Hold the card where you can see it and, using a fine-tipped black marker, draw the contour of that image onto the envelope without looking at your drawing until the drawing is complete. (You can ignore text if there is any.) That's it! The idea is not to end up with a nice drawing. You won't! The idea is to practice eye/hand communication. Write a note inside the card telling your partner about your experience. Seal the card inside the envelope and write the address information on the back of the envelope so it will not interfere with your drawing. Have fun! |
