Description:

For this swap you will create a travelling tea kit for your partner. The kit will be made out of a large matchbox and will include teas and tea-making items.

You will send your partner:

-a 250 count matchbox decorated in a tea, tea-related, or tea-inspired theme. The idea is to have a travelling kit so the decorations should be attractive but not too delicate or the kit won’t travel well. Also, as you decorate keep in mind that the items inside the matchbox will come into contact with food.

-Filled with individual tea bags, sweeteners, tongs, creamer packets, sugar, cinnamon sticks (for winter or dessert teas), mint leaves, small cookies, loose tea leaves, tea strainer, tea spoons, or other tea related items – and fill it up!! Tea selection can follow a theme or be random. You can check out your partner’s profile for ideas on the types of teas they might like. Cost before shipping should be $7-10.

Requirements: -a rating of 4.6 or higher

What about something sturdier like a tin, wood or paper mache box in similar size?

If you have a similar sized item that you would like to use that would be fine. I selected a matchbox to help keep the price down as this is an international swap.

I think this would be fun but i just cant do any more international swaps other than something flat envelope. the last package I sent to France was 28 US dollars.

These are some examples of the types of things that you might want to think about putting into your kit:

tea wallet - http://shopstashtea.com/832860.html

swizzle sticks - http://shopstashtea.com/300311.html

mesh infuser - http://shopstashtea.com/700081.html

honey spoon - http://www.theteatable.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&ProductCode=42169&CategoryCode=c_spoons

drip catcher - http://www.theteatable.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&ProductCode=80099&CategoryCode=a_dripcatchers

They are fancy, but you should be able to find nice, but reasonably priced, similar items in local stores.

When I was buying the tea for this swap I noticed that the box the tea comes in is about the same size of the matchbox. Would it be okay to use this box instead of the matchbox?

Sorry I didn't read the comments above first but I see that you have already replied to a similar question.

This looks awesome! Some other ideas for things to put in (as I am a tea nut): --tea bag holder (http://www.teaessentials.ca/Quickstart/ImageLib/teabagholder3sfw.jpg) --herbs that can go in tea (rose petals, sage, lavender, mint like jellybean5 said) --teaspoon --coasters --tea quotes?

Time to swap!! Partners have been assigned and it is time to start working on your tea kit if you haven't done so already. I'm excited to finally have started. Thanks for joining this swap; I hope you have a great time with it.

If you have any problems or questions please let me know.

As I suspected based on early comments, size is an issue with the matchbox. I'm using a tin for my kit. Feel free to use anything you want - I'm sure your partner would like a nice kit over strict adherence to the size. I had made a kit out of a tin before and changed it to a matchbox because I wanted to help people save money, but now that doesn't look like it was a good move. The main idea here is to have a kit that you can pack in a bag an take on the road or on vacation that has the basics in it for a good cup of tea. As long as you hit that goal, I don't think anyone is going to mind what the shape of the kit is.
