Description:

This is the third of our monthly recipe swaps--if you have suggestions for future themes, please message me.

We all have recipes that our friends and family just love for us to make....either they clamor for us to make it for dinner, or after tasting it at a potluck, call us up the next day for the recipe.

For this swap, you will have 3 partners, and you will send each partner 2 different recipes for your most popular or most requested items...this can either be a potluck recipe that you always get asked for, or a recipe that your family just loves for you to make--they just can't seem to get enough. That's a total of 6 recipes you will need to send out.

You have some flexibility with this one...it can be any category, and any difficulty level. The theme here is just that people LOVE the finished product.

The recipes can be computer printed or hand written, but please make sure they are legible. Feel free to include a letter telling about the recipe, or even about yourself, although it's not required.

Those with more than one no send or a rating below 4 will be dropped from the swap. If you have more than one no send with extenuating circumstances and would like to join please contact me before signing up for possible exceptions. Those who have received exceptions in other of my swaps need not explain again, but just drop me a line to remind me.

Newbies, feel free to join in, but make sure your profile is completed.

This is an international swap.

Leenda77 Thanks for doing this! I'm so glad I got in on the first swap. I feel so special, like a charter member! I can really see lots of great possibilities for future swaps: effortless entertining, comfort foods, summer bbq/picnic, etc. Thanks again for organizing this.

EmilyBemily 01/29/2007 #

Hooray! I'm so excited for this one. :)

LINBUR0100 01/29/2007 #

Oh wow. Those are all great ideas. Keep em coming.

I kind of feel special, too. I've never organized anything like this before these swaps, so I'm excited that so many people are interested in them. I just love swap-bot. :-)

LINBUR0100 01/30/2007 #

I'm just wondering if you guys have any suggestions about how we can promote our monthly swaps? I am not allowed to post about them on my other board now that I've become a moderator. I have links to them on my website, but I don't get too much traffic there, so I'm not sure if anyone sees it. How do you guys think we could let more people know about it, since we're doing it monthly?

LMM 01/31/2007 #

I'm with LilyLemon on this...happy to be a charter member. The ethnic recipes I got have been fabulous!

StuffbySteph 02/ 4/2007 #

I'm a newbie...well, participated in a couple swaps so far but dont have a rating yet... but this one looks great for me :-)

Marshmallow 02/18/2007 #

Leenda77 maybe you could contact Swap-bot about putting in a category for monthly swaps like they do for ATCs or paper goods, etc. Just a thought.

Panj 02/23/2007 #

Oh great! I love recipes, and I was not aware you all were doing one each month! I wil have to check more often!!!! Thanks for doing this.

cooan 03/21/2007 #

sent my stuff today! 1 to UK, 1 to JP, 1 to US

suzylucie 03/21/2007 #

Lily Lemon, I received my recipes today! The cranberry pie looks great. It seems like it would turn out like a pie shaped qiuckbread or a crumble/betty type of thing, is that right? I also dig the tropical slaw. It's screaming out that it would be a great side with fish tacos and black beans and rice. Yum! Thank you.

lilylemon 03/21/2007 #

Hi, suzielucie!

The cranberry pie actually tastes like shortbread. Since you pour the batter on top of the cranberries and pecans but you don't mix the batter into the cranberries and pecans, it looks like quickbread from the top but when you slice it, it looks like pie since it's layered. It tastes soooo much better than a quickbread, though.

I also sent this recipe in the easy but impressive desserts swap (I made sure I didn't have any repeat partners from that swap to this swap)-- it really is easy and impressive, and it really is my most requested recipe.

The tropical slaw would be great with spicy food.

Well, I hope you try them and I hope you like them. Thank you so much for letting me know you got the recipes.

user3190 03/22/2007 #

Yum, you're making me want that cranberry pie recipe!

sara0811 03/22/2007 #

Janelle and Brandi, your recipes are on their way. I hope you like them. My third partner is neika g., but there is a note saying she has moved and to "message her" for the address. I have sent messages to her email and swap-bot accounts but got no answer. So I have no way to send to her. I'm at a loss as of what to do, though I guess I will do second-best and send the recipes as attachments to her email address? I've been waiting to hear back from her, but nothing....

lilylemon 03/22/2007 #

Sara -- Sending them email is what popped into my mind right before I read that! You'd certainly have a record that you sent them that way! Connie J. I can send you a copy if you send me a message with your address. :).

JWJW2 03/22/2007 #

AmandaB -- Did you get them yet?

sara0811 03/24/2007 #

Thank you very much to Brooke and Doris! I'm getting inspired...

niecedenise 03/25/2007 #

Cloverst- heck if I know. Which recipe was it on? It doent sound familiar at all.

user6452 03/26/2007 #

Mediatinker, thanks so much for the wonderful recipes. I've always had a fondness for stroganoff, so I'm looking forward to being able to try your recipe. The addition of the cognac intrigues me, as that's one of my fave additions to homemade onion soup, and it adds a terrific depth to the flavour. I'm expecting it does the same for the stroganoff. And the chocolate cake sounds like the perfect killer dessert when I need something special for a holiday feast.

Thanks again!

Lene'

Saor 03/27/2007 #

I got great recipes from Cooan and JWJW2. Thank you both.

niecedenise 03/28/2007 #

Cloverst- i got you great recipes today. I cant waut to try them. But now I have a ? What are digestive biscuits? and also what isTzaziki Dip. Give me an idea of flavor or ingredients in it and Ill figure out something that will work. Denise

Cloverst 03/29/2007 #

Denise - lol on the international shopping differences! digestive biscuits are wholewheat biscuits with no toppings or additionsm tzaziki dip us a greek dip consisting of yoghurt, garlic and cucumber. try these pictures/descriptions:

http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com/biscuits/previous.php3?item=9

http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en-commons/thumb/6/6f/250px-Cacik.jpg

I was planning to use the dip recipe in the dip recipe swap but if you can't find it at the market and you don't get me as a rartner I'll email it you :)

Saor 03/29/2007 #

Denise - as far as I know digestive biscuits are the same as/similiar to graham crackers.

suzylucie 03/29/2007 #

AmandaB, I received your recipes in the mail today. They look delish. Thank you.

StuffbySteph 03/29/2007 #

I put a pic of the digestive cookies in the gallary ;)

StuffbySteph 03/29/2007 #

Sorry, I guess I should specify that these are the digestive cookies in Canada and US that I know of!

jakfrostwife 03/29/2007 #

OH gosh, this is the first (at least with more then one partners)swap that I've gotten ALL OF MY swap items! Nice job! Can't wait to try most of the recipes~except.....somebodys family has STOLEN my family's hamburger bisquit Casserole recipe! Even down to the cheese?

Cloverst 03/30/2007 #

Steph/denise, it hink the picture steph posted in the gallery if those are the type of biscuit you would dunk in tea rather than spreading cheese on. (or is tea dunking just an english past time!) Digestives are kind of sweetish.

Cloverst 03/30/2007 #

Ah sudden thought... Use the biscuits you would use to crumble to make a cheesecake base.

Cloverst 03/30/2007 #

Received two fab recipes from angelise97! Thanks!

niecedenise 03/30/2007 #

StuffbySteph. I am computer dumb. How do I get to the galery? Help!

StuffbySteph 03/30/2007 #

I have to say I'm fascinated by these, as cloverst put it, international shopping differences. It doesnt take much to amuse me ;)

And I definately got it wrong if the bisquits being discussed are sweetish, cuz the digestive cookies I put the picture of taste a little like sawdust...and yup, these are the kind you HAVE to dunk in tea otherwise the sawdust crumbs get caught in your throat lol. Denise, at the very top of the description of the swap, there is a click-able "launch gallery slideshow" .... but skip it lol cause I was wrong!

niecedenise 03/30/2007 #

I used graham crackers and it worked. Yummy! Thankyou everyone for your help. We dont have anything in my part of the US that says digestive biscuits. I thought maybe it was like a saltine cracker. Glad I didnt waste my ingredients using them.

Panj 03/30/2007 #

Now you have my mouth watering!! I want to try some! LOL Panj

niecedenise 03/30/2007 #

Sara, I got a swap from nieka the other day. It was the cute socks swap. it was over a month late but she did send it. Also there is not a return address on it and the note said she had been in a shelter for a while. I would just email them if you havent already. Seems a lot going on.

user3190 03/30/2007 #

I too received from all my partners, how refreshing!

EmilyBemily 03/31/2007 #

Amanda - thank you for the recipes! :)

lilylemon 03/31/2007 #

So far, I've only received from TexasQuilter. I'm sure the rest will come in today's mail. :)I'd sure like to know if AmandaB got her recipes from me so I can stop worrying about resending.

lilylemon 03/31/2007 #

I got great looking recipes from Kaitlin, I think? Is Rosemary your mom? Isn't it great to be able to pass mom's recipes along? That's what I did with the Cranberry Pie recipe (so monay times thaT most people now think it's my recipe!:)).

niecedenise 03/31/2007 #

I really think I need a copy of that cranberry pie recipe. Please, please.

Cloverst 04/ 1/2007 #

ROFL, Denise, sorry for harrassing you about the AuJuis, I just looked at the ratings and realised it wasn't even you who sent me the recipe! It was poggy! That's what I get for sorting all my mail at the same time! Sorry!
