This is my first time hosting a swap, so please let me know if there's any information missing or I need to do something differently. The basic idea for this swap is to take a postcard showing a horse (or horses), and turn the horse into a unicorn. Unicornisation procedures The horse doesn't have to necessarily be the main thing in the postcard. For example, it could be a farmyard scene with a horse in one corner; a historic battle scene including horses; a sculpture showing someone mounted on a horse... I actually think these kinds of postcards will make it funnier, so if you have a choice pick the most amusing one, but anything with a horse in it is fine. The style of the postcard can be photographic, painting, illustration, sketch, or anything you like, but please limit yourself to store-bought or zazzle-type postcards rather than homemade - the idea is to alter a preexisting postcard rather than just draw a unicorn! In turning your horse (or horses) into a unicorn (or unicorns), you can use pens, paints, or whatever you have at hand - obviously trying to ensure that it's permanent and won't come off in the post. Try to make the horn blend in and match the style of the postcard, within the limits of your artistic materials and abilities. When you're done, write your partner a nice and/or interesting message and send the postcard either naked or in an envelope if you think it might get damaged. Edit: If you can't find a suitable postcard, a good-quality notecard is OK too :) Requirements When rating, please rate your partner a 5 if you get a postcard or notecard showing a horse or horses that they've turned into a unicorn or unicorns, regardless of whether you like it or not. I'm setting a rating requirement of 4.9 for now, and I'd ask that participants have 5 rated non-electronic swaps under their belt. I will angel this, but obviously hope it won't be necessary; I will be checking participants for anyone who seems flaky before assigning partners. I hope this is fun for all of us. I really like the idea of having a postcard somewhere in my house that looks perfectly normal at first glance but then turns out to have an incongruous unicorn in it :) |
