Ah, the albatross! From its appearance in Rime of the Ancient Mariner to Monty Python, to the fascinating science of a bird that can calculate its airspeed while in flight, drink salt water, and live for 50 years, the albatross is so ... unlikely ... that it has to be the emblem of far- and long-traveling swaps! The goals of this swap are simple: to read up a bit on albatrosses, and use their story to inspire a creative piece of mail art: an ATC, a postcard, a decorated envelope, faux postage, a zine, a naked-mail object of any sort, or an amazing letter for one partner. Suggested reading: Albatrosses are critically endangered. Albatross Centre in New Zealand Short-tailed albatrosses in Oregon, US All ZMACS members in good standing are welcome to join; please send and rate, I will albatross any unsent swaps! I hope that these incredible animals will be inspiring to us :) |
