Fall is here! In the northern hemisphere, anyway. Use colors, images that make you think of the Fall season. It could be the transitioning of Summer to Fall, Fall colors, etc. 4"x6" handmade postcard on heavy cardstock (think: about cereal box weight) Larger is ok if that works better for you. Naked mailing - I'd like to keep it inexpensive but if you are afraid to send your particular card on it's own, an envelope is ok.
