Growing up, my school's motto to promote Literacy was always Reading is Fundamental. That has become my personal motto, as well. I LOVE Children's literature, specifically Dr. Seuss. Pick your favorite Dr. Seuss story. Make an ATC featuring a character and quote from that story that touched you in some way. The ATC's backing should be either an original page of that particular story, or a nice photocopy. This will be a monthly swap. Please add your favorite authors in the comments section.

Open to swappers with at least a 4.99+ rating. No Newbies Allowed. I will be checking profiles carefully. No unexplained 1's or 3's. I reserve the right to Ban as I see fit. PM me if you want to be included, but do not meet the rating requirements. I would be willing to set up a private swap. This is a USA Only swap. Let me know if I need to create an International one as well.

Send your swap on time, and don't forget to rate your partner. Think of your rating as a thank you note, it's very nice to thank the person who took time to create something for you. Rate a 5 if it was sent on time, even if you didn't like it. Hearts are completely optional. If you don't receive your swap please let me and your partner know before rating a 1 or 3.

Hi! I sorta bumped into this swap while reading my partner's profile. @Mimi7 It helps to see my partner's "likes" to give me a direction to go in when thinking about what I am going to make for them. She is my partner in another swap (Wacky holiday ATC)

I saw this Dr Seuss swap and had to check it out! I LOVE anything and everything Dr Seuss!

In the description above, you ask us to list a favorite author in this comment section...How about Maurice Sendak, who wrote "Where the wild things are". That would be a fun ATC! :)

I totally appreciate that you don't ask anyone to copy another artist's work, but rather, use actual materials from the book, or printed copies, etc.! Thank you! One of my dislikes/pet peeves is to receive someones attempt to copy another artists work onto an ATC. Artist trading cards are meant to depict their OWN original style, etc.

Several years back, I took a Children Literacy college course. It was so interesting to learn about the origins of folk lore, fairy-tales, fables, nursery rhymes, and the meanings behind them... such as Little red Riding Hood for example. Hundreds of years ago, parents had real fears about their children being eaten by wolves and were purposely trying to instill fear!

I also find it fascinating the way archetypes were used in story telling, passed down from generations..... and of course, "the moral of the story" Which reminds me of a book titled "Women Who Run With the Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. I think any of you would really enjoy reading this.

Personally, I found a lot of healing from childhood trauma through reading this book... Its quite intense and really makes you pause to think... This book is one of my top 10 favorite self help books! (Although I dont think its considered a self help book?) Its just a reallllllly awesome book! You ladies should Google it and check it out! :)
