Description:

I was in a swap like this years ago using an old prescription bottle or other pill bottle for the container and it was for quotes. Sadly my partner flaked on me, but I had fun putting it together for my send to partner. I modified it somewhat for our group in that our prescriptions will be for a week's worth of encouraging biblical verses and we will use an envelope to put them in (to save on postage).

Here's what to do:

You will add some sort of "prescription label" the outside of the envelope with your partner's name on it and what the prescription is for, along with the dose. Put yourself as the doctor. Example:

  • Date: [Use the date you "issue the prescription"]
  • RX Prescription: Encouragement
  • Prescribed by: [Use Dr. & Your Name]
  • For: Partner's Name
  • Dose: Read one verse daily. Take with your favorite beverage. Continue until all "medication" is done. Do not skip doses!

Hopefully you get the idea! Have fun and be creative!

The daily doses may be typed, handwritten (legibly) or stamped. Please add some decor to each verse card (stickers, washi tape, doodles, etc.).

This part edited on 12/16/17 for more detail: Please make sure you include "medicine" for 7 days (one for each day of the week). It's optional to include extra doses. If you would like, you could label each dose, "Monday, Tuesday, etc." but this isn't mandatory. It could just be the 7 doses and then your partner can reach in each day to randomly grab one.

I'm kind of winging this, so as long as you have 7 encouragement verses on 7 different pieces of decorated papers, you'll be fine.

With it very busy right now holiday-wise, I'll make sure to give us plenty of time to work on getting our prescriptions filled and sent.

At first I was reading this as 7 envelopes, one for each prescription, but now I think you mean 7 encouragement verses on 7 pieces of (decorated paper/card stock) and put inside of one envelope with the Dr's prescription on the one envelope. And, this of course goes inside of the mailing envelope. Is that correct? I also want to ask - Do we all use the word Encouragement on our prescription? Thank you for your patience with your patients, Dr. Beth : )

@bb2 you are correct in how you interpreted it. Yes, putting Encouragement on the prescription will enable us to know it's for this swap. :)
