Description:

You know there's going to be at least ONE gift you get this year that you'll tuck in a box some where for next year. The "here I got you something without thinking about it" gift. The toaster, the excess of body lotions, that generic-brand magic bullet blender, the hot chocolate "variety collection", massaging slippers. You know... The "I stopped at CVS on my way over here" gifts.

Instead of "accidentally" re-gifting to the same person next year, how about swapping! Hopefully your partner will enjoy your gift, but if not, at least they have one new re-gifting opportunity for next year without shame!

Swap re-gifts should be in the $20 price range. Small cheaper priced items can be combined.

If you think this swap should be a multi-partner swap, let me know!

No newbies, sorry! 5 stars only. Message me to plead your case. I'll play Angel, so everyone gets a gift!

Oh, and make sure your profile is filled out. If it isn't, your partner might not be able to choose the best re-gift for you!

LOL All of the things you mention in the first paragraph of the swap description are things that I would actually LIKE receiving and would USE, not re-gift. That's like a swap like this one is so good; one man's trash is another man's treasure. :-)

I like the idea, but I can't afford the international shipping.

SundayCoffee 12/23/2008 #

I would do one that was limited to the U.S. for shipping reasons also. Please let me know if you decide to do one!

sewandgrow 12/26/2008 #

Me too about international shipping. I stopped doing those when 2 packages in a row cost me almost $20 to ship each. It takes the fun out of it when I have to feel quilting about the money I am spending. Great idea though. Karen in California

I think that 1 partner would be a good idea, since the swap is a bit of a high stakes one. I have two perfect gives, but their value is probably not $20 anyway... this was a good Christmas, not to many gifts to re-gift!

Too expensive to send overseas or I'd be joining too! Sorry:(

Karen in Ca (Sewandgrow)-I so agree with you about feeling guilty about the postage, ESPECIALLY during these economic times. Has anyone heard we're in a recession?

International postage is too much for me now too! Please let me know if you do a USA only and I'm in!

I'm curious....is it written somewhere on the site how many swaps you have to have under your belt until you're not a "newbie" anymore? Also, are there any definitions of things I see that I don't understand (like dotee, ATC, Kawaii, etc.) Thanks for any help!

somethingblue 12/29/2008 #

ohiowiner, I'm not sure about a dictionary, but Kawaii is a generic statement for ridiculously cute, Asian inspired things. Think Hello Kitty. ATCs are artist trading cards, which are cards that are created following different themes that you can trade. Search "swapbot atc" on flickr for some great images. Dotees are these weird little doll things...I don't understand them. Haha.

@ ohiowiner A newbie would be someone with no ratings aka never participated in a swap.
