Description:

Who doesn't like the fun of a Secret Santa in school or with colleagues? I enjoy trying to find something small and beautiful for someone else and loved watching them unwrap while they didn't know it was from me. Well, the “Who is it from?” won't be such a secret on here but still you can think of something nice, something to make your partner smile or something handmade for them, wrap it up and send it to your partner as a small token for the loving spirit of the Christmas time.

Please join and make this world a place of love again this Christmas.

In this swap you should find a small present that fits in a flat envelope for your swap partner. Put in at least 3 of the things listed below to make sure it's a fair swap.

You can send:
- some decoration
- self-made Christmas card (with your Christmas wishes for your partner)
- Christmas-related photo
- Christmas-related bookmark
- your wishes for the New Year for them
- flat chocolates
- something for under a Pound/Dollar/Euro/...
- something they can use for a next swap or for themselves (Washi Tape samples/stickers/blank postcard of your town or country/...)
- small lucky charms (shells/coins/matchbox/...)
- something else you can think of

Please add a note which of the categories your presents are and why you chose them.

IMPORTANT: As at least one of the categories are things to eat, please upon signing up add a note on your profile in the section “Other” to let your partner know if you have any special diet requirements or food allergies (for example on my profile I have a category named “Dear Swap Partner of...” at the bottom). And before you choose something to eat/drink for your partner, please check on their profile for allergies or other restrictions. If there are no notes on your profile by the time partners are assigned, that means your partner has the freedom to choose anything to eat for you.

This sounds like it should be a Type 3 swap?

Stachel 08/23/2020 #

@nellswell
There is also a Secret Santa 2020 for Type 3 here: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/302997
I thought about offering a light version of this for everyone interested who doesn't like to pay the postage for an international Type 3. So for this swap you only put flat items in the envelope, please.

nellswell 08/24/2020 #

Thanks for replying. I guess when I originally commented, I was thinking that some of the items listed wouldn't necessarily be considered flat (namely the charms and washi tape, though you probably meant washi tape samples? which would be considered a flat item, as opposed to a roll of tape); but since it's sender's choice, and many of the items in your list are flat, I can see why you made this one Type 2. Welcome to Swap-bot, by the way!

Stachel 08/24/2020 #

Oh yes, that's good advice, I changed it to "samples" now, to keep it clear and simple to understand. Thank you :-)

Thanks for the welcome. I kind of feel right at home already 🤗

Stachel 08/24/2020 #

Oh, and as for the charms I thought of rather flat shells, coins are of course flat and those flat matchboxes you get at a bar or restaurant sometimes 🙃

RachelM 09/ 9/2020 #

Hey Stachel😘 So it's a small flat gift..plus 3 things off the list, right?

Stachel 09/ 9/2020 #

@RachelM
Actually it's three flat gifts from the list.
Happy to see you join another of my swaps. :-)

I am SO EXCITED! Soooo, since it's been so long since I've participated, I'm a little lost. Do we have to wait until Nov 15 and then we're assigned a person? (I'd love to start creating NOW ;) )

Stachel 09/15/2020 #

@candidstudios
Yes, this is supposed to be reaching your partner around the christmas time, so we should wait that long, I'm sorry. 😉😅
But there are so many wonderful and creative swaps on here. Why not join another swap to make the time you wait for this one to start a little more fun? 😉 Or you can also look at my profile to see my other swaps. 🤗

VERY IMPORTANT:
I'm very sad to announce that the US and Germany (my country) have made new rules for mail service. It is not allowed to send goods as a letter from Germany to the US anymore, only documents up to 500g. As a premium parcel it would cost me over 50€ to get it shipped. I will also check possible regulations for other countries, more information to come soon. As I can't pay that much for postage and I bet no one else can/wants to, note the following information:

PLEASE make sure you know the regulations from your countries' mail service. PLEASE drop from this swap if you can't send goods/can't pay for sending goods to all the countries.

I will check with the post office regularly, but if they keep up these rules until the sign up deadline, I will have to ban everyone from the US from this swap. I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience. (This also goes for any other countries with similar regulations.) :-(

Dear all US-swappers: Feel free to host a US-only version of my swap for this real crazy year.

NorthVanKnittr 10/ 1/2020 #

Hello Stachel. Canada has a similar rule though I find if you keep your goods to the paper variety it is ok. For example if the person sending sends stickers, washi tape samples, a card or postcard it would be fine. If you have to fill out a declaration just write paper items.

Stachel 10/ 2/2020 #

@NorthVanKnittr
Thank you, that is very good advice. For this light version of the swap it seems a good way to send the swap.

Until now the person in the post office tells me, most countries would be accepting goods sent at letter rate. But I will again ask for the specific countries the swappers are from at the end of the month, to make sure, it stays that way.

Stachel 10/28/2020 #

@all
As promised, today I checked back with the post office for any regulations on sending items. From Germany we can send items for a small parcel rate to all the countries currently in the swap (as of Oct 28), being Australia, Romania, Portugal and Finland, except the USA. I will contact the person currently in this swap from the US to see if they're fine with receiving mainly paper items for this swap. If so, I will let them stay of course.

If you are not currently in the swap, are from the US and thinking about joining:
I won't contact you personally. By joining you agree to only receive paper items (or items very similar to paper) for those can be sent at letter rate. Regulations for parcels to be sent to the US only as premium are still up.

For everyone else currently in the swap and thinking about joining: Please make absolutely sure you can send items to all the participants' countries. I would of course angel this one, but it would be so very sad, if you signed up and couldn't actually send to your partner. Also they would have to rate you a 1.

I have sent a PM to the participant that hasn't clicked 'Sent' yet.
