Hello! I grew up Catholic in a very diverse city immersed in rich cultural traditions, and later lived briefly in Tucson, where one of the largest celebrations of The Day Of The Dead in the US is held every year, and all are welcomed to participate. Altars are set up to honor family members, including photographs, written letters, prayers, and poetry, their favorite food and drinks, and of course, art and flowers! I would like all those who sign up for this swap to spend time creatively crafting a swap for your partner in honor of the Day of The Dead Tradition. Although it is fluid for many cultures, what remains the pillar of the celebration is honoring those that have passed before us. Please check out the wikipedia page for more information on traditions and customs in various countries. The Day of The Dead is an amalgamation of Catholic, indigenous, and pagan traditions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayofthe_Dead For this swap we will send our partner either a store bought or hand made greeting card, note card or postcard. Think bright flowers and sugar skulls to start. Include a written message about what this celebration means to you; a poem, a story, or a prayer in any of the traditional styles. We will also send a decorated envelope, with a minimum of one ounce of hand made and or store bought items which may include: Greeting cards, post cards, hand made envelopes, a written component mentioned above, ATC's, die cuts, ephemera, stickers, magnets, book marks, drawings, paintings, or any hand made art are welcome in this swap! Please decorate your envelope with drawings, paintings, stencils, stickers, decoupage, washi tape, stickers, or any medium you like. Please bring out your favorite craft supplies, and decorate with color, flowers, sugar skulls, or whatever else you feel compelled to create! My swaps are not based on skill level, so no pressure, simply create something that is meaningful to you. A card, a written note, and a decorated envelope meets the requirements. I hope we can have fun sharing our creativity, and I look forward to swapping with you all! |
