Let’s create a Micro Creepy Curio to display all year long! For this swap you will need: *One Altoid SMALLS tin; roughly 2 1/16" long and 1 5/16" wide. NOT the traditional Altoid tin. *Sandpaper if painting the tin *Paint and/or fabric *Creepy flat embellishments *Creepy miniature 3D Halloween items *Tacky Glue, hot glue Prep your SMALLS Altoid tin by washing, sanding, painting, covering with paper, and/or fabric and sealing it with something like Modge Podge. There are several tutorials online for prepping Altoid tins for art, but I find sanding the quickest and cheapest and does not involve harmful chemicals. If you will not be using paint but covering all surfaces with paper or fabric, no sanding is required. Next, decorate all four sides AND create a permanent, securely glued curio [diorama] on the inside of the tin. Use a variety of miniature flat and 3D items such as images, ephemera, bottles, beads, bugs, micro figurines, etc. Your tin does not have to close but should be able to stand on its own so the recipient may display and enjoy it. Secure and mail your art piece in a bubble envelope or small box by the due date. For inspiration and ideas here are some samples for you: |
