Description:

This is a mostly profile-based swap, so be sure to check what your partner likes and dislikes before you start putting anything together! Newbies are welcome if they have a well-filled-out profile.

For this swap, we'll make it a bit random based on a six-sided dice roll. You will be putting together a collection of flat items your partner will hopefully like, trying to meet the category and theme suggestions based on your dice roll. The number of items you choose is ultimately up to you, but at least three are recommended.

For the first step, you can either roll two physical dice or simulate online with something like this.

All right, so with step one complete, you should have two numbers between 1 and 6. Use your first number to determine what kind of items you'll send, based on this chart:

*NOTE: if you're unable to send a certain type of item (e.g., you don't have access to a printer, or you know your partner wouldn't like anything in the category you rolled, simply reroll! : ) )

If you rolled a 1: you should send things you found online and printed. Ideally, check your partner's profile to see what they would like. Examples: recipes, craft how-tos, printable coloring pages/bookmarks/etc, poems, news articles, coupons, etc.

If you rolled a 2: you should send recommendations. Check your partner's profile for ideas here, but typical examples would be a playlist, podcasts, books, social media accounts to follow, etc. You can handwrite or type, but try to put some effort into it,

If you rolled a 3: you should send something your partner can use for future mail swaps. Meaning notecards, postcards, stamps, etc.

If you rolled a 4: you should send your partner handwritten (unless your handwriting is illegible) positive affirmations. They can be somewhat general ("everything will be okay," "you do great work," or more tailored to them "your dog loves you" "you're an amazing mother" etc.)

If you rolled a 5: you should send your partner a list(s) of things that will interest them, E.g., fun facts about [insert animal], or cool websites not many people know about, or writing/journal/art prompts.

If you rolled a 6: you should send fun embellishments. Stickers, ephemera, nice small pieces of paper, and the like. As with every other number, try to pick stuff your partner will like. Please do not send 3 tiny stickers and that's all--send more if your items are small.

All of the above things should be flat enough to fit in some kind of envelope, just to reduce the postage burden.

So now you have a category, but check this chart against your second rolled number for further suggested theme ideas:

*NOTE: your partner's tastes trump these themes. Reroll, pick another number, or simply ignore this part if you want or nothing fits!

If you rolled a 1, include something: blue, related to maps, glittery, or animal-themed

If you rolled a 2, include something: orange, vintage, shiny, or art/music-themed

If you rolled a 3, include something: yellow, cartoony, matte, or nature-themed

If you rolled a 4, include something: purple, geometric, textured, or science/space-themed

If you rolled a 5, include something: green, related to clocks, something square, or book-themed

If you rolled a 6, include something: pink, incorporating paisley or lace, related to your favorite hobby, or tech-themed

EXAMPLE 1: If I roll a 2 and a 5, I'll be sending my partner recommendations, and I'll try to incorporate something green/clock-related/square or book-themed. Maybe I'll recommend books with green on the cover, or books having to do with time.

EXAMPLE 2: If I roll a 1 and a 3, I'll send my partner printables and I'll try to find something yellow/cartoony/matte or nature-themed. Maybe I can find a funny comic to print or an interesting article about nature, or maybe a recipe for lemon bars.

I know this is a bit complicated, but I've tried to put a lot of detail in here to make it clear. Remember: these are suggestions to guide your decisions as a bit of a challenge! Don't worry if you can't match everything perfectly.

That said, PLEASE RATE YOUR PARTNER and give them 5 stars if they sent at least 3 items with some attempt to match your interests and the prompts.

It would be nice to provide some info about what numbers you rolled, though it's not strictly necessary. E.g., I could note that my lemon bar recipe came from rolling a 1 (something printed) and 3 (something yellow).

I will angel if needed but message your partner before assuming they're flaking.
