Description: | |
This swap series was inspired by @mariewilliams810 s great series, which I have participated in and enjoyed: Brighten My Week Notecard. However, because she already has the week-brightening covered, we're bringing ourselves back to reality a bit. For this swap, please send one nice storebought or handmade notecard in an envelope. In the notecard, we will be writing something to ruin your partner's week! I have a lot of prompts ready to go in case people enjoy this series, but for now, this week's prompt is: UNPLEASANT HISTORY - 20th century wars. Please reference this article: List of Wars in the 20th Century. You may select any war that ended prior to the year 1998 that you had not previously known about or known much about. Please avoid the World Wars, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Gulf War (Desert Shield/Desert Storm) -- just because this is a US only swap, and your partner is likely to be familiar with them even if they aren't a major history buff. But please look into these wars at your discretion if you want to learn more! The US can have some involvement in the war you select, though it's definitely not necessary. In your notecard, please write: the name of conflict, the years it spanned, what countries or groups were involved, and the victor(s)/loser(s). Then, please write at minimum 6 sentences (but you can write longer, and continue on a piece of paper) summing up the conflict. You may want to include some historical context, reasons stated for the conflict, what type of combat and where it occurred, what type of technology was in use, reactions from the rest of the world/how it was presented on the global stage, what caused the war to end, etc. Since this swap is negative, we will also be sending a flat surprise that is not intended to ruin your partner's week. It does not need to be extremely profile-based, but please do not send something from their list of dislikes/things they do not want to receive. It is ok if your partner does not mention liking or using the type of item you send as long as it isn't a dislike -- just make sure it's something nice that they can pass along if they don't love it. Examples include: a sticker sheet, 3 washi samples, memo sheets, a couple blank postcards, a blank notecard with envelope, ephemera, stamps, playing cards, a drawing or short piece of writing about something they've requested on their profile, etc etc. You may make something homemade.
