Description: | |
These swaps should be able to be sent for letter rate postage. The idea is to create snippet rolls small sections at a time. Each swap will consist of sending our partner 2 lengths of a snippet roll which will then be added to lengths from previous swaps. You can join in as many or as few of these swaps as you wish as there is no round robin type component. Want to wrap your whole upper room wall with a super snippet roll or do you just want a piece or two to attach to journal pages, its completely up to you. These will be mailed in 6x9 inch envelopes to avoid folding them. Start off with an approximately 9 inch (maybe slightly shorter to ensure it can lay flat in a 6x9 envelope) long piece of 2 1/4 inch wide adding machine/cash register tape or similar. If you cut a piece of paper to substitute for this, please be sure to cut it to 2 1/4 inches wide. On the top one side of your paper you will randomly attach pieces of thin scrap paper, fabric, etc being sure to cover the whole paper except for a length of about 1.5 inches at the right end (this is where the piece will be joined to subsequent pieces) Be sure to always have this at the right hand end of the strip. These strips need to be pliable to allow for rolling up later on. Once you have covered your strip (except for 1.5 inches on the right end), you will embellish it with sewing, small images, stickers (in moderation) small die cuts, found words, etc, keeping mind to keep these additions quite pliable. Keep the orientation of the rolls left to right with the left end embellished right to the end and the right end bare for 1 1/2 inches. On the backside of your rolls, add your name, swapbot id, name of this group and date. Mail your rolls in a 6x9 envelope. They should fit nicely side by side. In future swaps, you will join the rolls you receive to ones you already have by gluing/sewing the 1 1/2 inch bare paper on the roll you have to the bottom of the leading edge on the rolls you receive. You may have to add an embellishment etc to camouflage the join. I haven’t tried this before or seen it tried, so fair warning, this is a trial and as such, moderations may happen as we go along if necessary. |
