Description:

Okay, all of my life I have been so envious of those crafty types who just can make beautiful objects from scratch. I have no creative ability whatsoever, but each summer I catch the craft bug. This swap for others like me - ones who suck at crafts but want to try their hand at the trade.

So here are the rules of the game.

*First of all, we all know that what you make may not be the most beautiful thing in the world, but darn it, you've poured your time and effort into it, and you want to share it with someone. Everyone's craft is gonna suck; it's okay!

*You can make whatever you want. An ATC, a journal, a wallet, a shirt, socks, a house, you can knit something - whatever. Just a craft you've always wanted to try and never thought you'd be any good at it. Well, here is your chance to find out! If you need some ideas, sites like craftster.org and instructables.com give some good instructions and ideas. Along with your marvelous creation, please write a note explaining what you've made and why you made it.

*NO NEWBS ALLOWED. If you're new, and you really want to do this, message me, and we'll see what we can do.

*4.9 rating, no recent no sends. You must have a couple of mail swaps under your belt.

This is not a swap for the artsy-fartsy types, so do not be intimidated. Be free with this. You're among friends. There aren't any first prize art winners here (but if you are, you're welcome join, but NO SHOW OFFS). You will be sending your creation to one partner. Have fun! You might discover you have a hidden talent!

OMG! I wish I would have saved the card I tried to make! I was collaging and stamping and tried to emboss the stamping. My heat tool broke right as I was embossing. So, I just knew that all I had to do was heat it a little more for the powder to melt the rest of the way.... so I put it in the microwave! ROFL! what a mess! The glue bubbled and burned and the paper got brittle and crumbley and the back of the embossed area was brown and smoking but the powder never did melt!

Is there any rough $$ amount for this swap? Just so I have an idea and don't under-do it.

undxdcraftymom 06/27/2009 #

So we are still making to the best of our ability right? It's not something we make purposely ugly?

Britt 06/27/2009 #

@leann No, there isn't any money amount for the swap, but if people want me to set a money amount, I can. Just pick a craft you really want to do and try it! I'm trying to give as much freedom as I can with this, you know?

@undxdcraftymom HAha, yes, we are still making this to the best of our ability! The effort is what counts.

And can anyone tell me how to bold stuff? I want to highlight the part about writing the note explaining what you've made and why you've made it.

I had a bad experience with a heat gun tool a few years ago. I had never used one and it looked like fun...but when I tried it I burnt my table...I have since learned to not use the heating tools on items that can burn ha ha...

I would try this, but I am a papercrafter. Have fun!
