Location:International
Type:Type 3: Package or craft
Last day to signup/drop:August 8, 2009
Date items must be sent by:September 30, 2009
Number of swap partners:1
Description:

If you love a good story and think children's stories aren't just for children, welcome to the swap!

Send one or more items related to a fairy tale/folk tale/nursery rhyme to one partner. Decorate it with a specific fairy tale in mind. This is open to the sender's artistic interpretation. (You might receive something amazing and original!)

Receiver picks the fable, so it's a little challenging. Please list your favorite stories below in the comments section. List a few to go easy on your partner by giving them some choices.

No Disney, unless your partner loves that company. This is more traditionally inclined, towards the likes of Hans Christian Andersen, Grimms, Lewis Carroll, Mother Goose, Aesop, etc.

International.

Value: $3 (+ shipping)

Item(s) may be hand crafted or store bought. Purchased items are great. Nicely homemade is highly encouraged.

Please use good judgment on estimating items.

This is a small, simple swap, but please make it of good quality. Give something you believe your partner would love and use. (Peek at their profile so you don't accidentally send a pin cushion to someone who doesn't sew.)

Item examples:

hair clips

button/badge pin set

sticker pack

rubber stamp

journal

pin cushion

sewing kit

tote

post card set

embroidery

key chain

charm

necklace

anything you can think of

Swap Requirements:

  • At least 1 physical crafty elbow-greased snail mail swap completed.
  • 4.8 rating or higher.
  • No recent no sends. (Explanations welcome.)
  • Please do not flake, or you will be reported. (Please!!)

You have over 1 month to complete the swap. Since hand crafted goods take time to create, the deadline is generous.

I hope you'll be inspired and have a lot of fun with this! Thank you for joining.

So this is one handmade and one profile item?

mintcondition 07/19/2009 #

Handmade or store-bought item(s)... The number of things sent is up to the sender, as long as the total amount is $3.

I just meant to check profiles so people don't send something like a pincushion to someone who doesn't sew at all.

I love this swap; I´m a big fan of children´s books and fairy tales :)! I love all the traditional fairy tales like H.C.Andersen, the Grimm brothers, Lewis Carroll, Roald Dahl, Astrid Lindgren, Beatrix Potter etc. Anything goes, so I´m easy to please :D!

What a wonderful swap! I'm so excited to start crafting things.

Some of the fairy tales I love are Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella (and all of the many variations of Cinderella found throughout the world), Rumpelstiltskin, The Little Mermaid, Aladin. Growing up we had a book with many different fairy tales in it and they were not the Disney retellings of the stories. So, these really are the stories of my youth.

I am so excited. I have been on childrens storybook kick. See my blog: And I just had a felt crown swap with this theme. I like Red Riding Hood, Where the wild things, something along that style. I have two boys...so no princess in this house. ha ha

So nice! can't wait to start! I really like fairy tales a lot, especially - Alice in Wonderland - Little Red Riding Hood - Snow White - The Frog prince - The wolf and the seven goats (since I love goats!) - The Princess and the pea - are just some that I like... I like most traditional Grimm-type tales. But my favourites are Baba Yaga (not Grimm at all, but quite grim!), the Princess and the Pea, The Twelve Months, The Snow Queen, and The Frog Prince.

IlonaH 08/10/2009 #

I love Grimm too, grew up with those stories. When I was in college, I even made a study on them, for the language-subject Dutch :)

tiaragoth 08/10/2009 #

My favourite fairy tales are the Brothers Grimm, ''Snow White'' and Hans Christian Andersen's, ''The Snow Queen''. No Disney please. I like the original more sinister versions of fairy tales.
