This is a group swap for members of ''Viva la Frida''. Therefore you need to be a member of this specific group to join. It follows on from the ''Fabulous and Funky Frida Doll'' swap I coordinated a couple of months ago. A few people asked if I would organize another Frida doll swap at a later date so here it is with a bit of a twist. As Dia de los Muertos is fast approaching I thought I would combine two of my favourite things for this swap, Day of the Dead imagery and Frida Kahlo. The aim of this swap is to create a Frida Kahlo doll in a Day of the Dead style, so think sugar skulls instead of faces, skeletal arms and legs, flowers in her hair and momentos of things associated with Frida Kahlo. You can even use that iconic monobrow of hers on the skull to denote it's Frida : ) Size wise the doll can be anywhere between 6 inches to 12 inches tall and made from whatever media you excell in be it fabric, heavy cardstock, papier mache, clay, mixed media, altered Barbie etc. Just make sure she's fabulous, delightfully Day of the Dead inspired and securely packaged for her journey. As it's a group swap I'm assuming everyone has high standards when it comes to swapping, but anyone dodgy who sneaks in will be dropped before the swap starts. Participants should have at least 15 snail mailed swaps at 4.9 or above and no recent no sends. Feel free to check out flickr and do a general web search ''Frida Kahlo doll'' and ''Dia de los Muertos'' for inspiration. Any questions just ask and I will do my best to answer them. |
