Description:

You will send one handmade bookmark to 1 partner. You can use any materials you wish (pretty papers, fabric, fibers, buttons, beads, charms, thread, etc) and you may wish to take your partner’s taste into consideration (any allergies to materials, dislikes, favorite things, colors, etc) and otherwise the bookmark should be the quality of one you’d like to receive (more than putting a few stickers on a piece of cardstock, or just handwriting a word or phrase onto cardstock). Your bookmark should fit into a standard letter size envelope (#10 size envelope or 4 1/8” x 9 ½”) and be fairly flat for the part of the bookmark that sits inside a book. Since postage is minimal for this size envelope, the swap is international. Don’t forget to include a note with your swap-bot handle (the name you go by) so that your partner can rate you.

Requirements to join swap:

Newbies are welcome with a well filled out profile, and with atleast one rated 5 type 2 or 3 swap. If you do not have any rated swaps, please message me if you are interested in the swap, we can try and work it out. All others must have a minimum overall rating of a 4.8 with no (unexplainable) ones or threes. PM me if you do have 1’s or 3’s and would like to explain, exceptions may be made at my discretion. If you do not think you can deliver your swap items in a timely fashion, please do not join this swap (ie, don’t flake), it’s a fairly simple one. I reserve the right to remove swappers that I believe will not deliver swapped items at my discretion and I will be checking profiles before assigning partners.

Please rate once you receive your bookmark, and do so as fairly as you can. Rate your partners based on fulfilling the requirements of having mailed 1 bookmark by the send by date (postmarked on or before the send by date), and having met the requirements of being a handmade bookmark. Please do not rate based on whether or not you like the bookmark. It is appreciated that you rate once you received your bookmark, and to do so as fairly as you can. Everyone relies on these ratings to join other swaps and groups.

Please contact me with any questions or comment below. Contact me if you don’t receive your package in a reasonable amount of time, I will help to try and resolve the situation and angel if necessary (but hopefully, it will not be an issue)

If this swap goes well, I will do more in the future.

edit 9/21/09 - I added one more day to the sign-up drop date and the send by date to include a weekend day, since not everyone is on SB during the week.

i just wanted to remind the newbies who requested to join this swap that you will be making a bookmark for one partner, but due to the number of people in the swap it is more than likely you'll be receiving an item from a different swap partner (not the same person you send to). this is often the case, unless there is a very small number of swappers and/or in the instance that the number of swappers and number of partners with are close together. just an fyi!

in other news thanks so much to everyone who has joined thus far! i'm looking forward to assigning partners in a very short period of time. . . . .

just a few notes in case anyone is wondering:

  • there are no size requirements for this bookmark, as long as it can fit inside a standard #10 envelope (4 1/8" x 9 1.2" or 10.4cm x 24.1 cm).

  • if you choose to use a different size or type of envelope, this is fine too (ie, if you feel more comfortable using a bubble envelope for example), this IS NOT a factor in how you are rated.

  • please use your best judgement when packaging up your bookmark, you may wish to pad it if it contains anything breakable (beads, clay, wire, brads or anything delicate) or enclose something stiff in the envelope to keep it from bending if you think it's necessary.

  • you are only required to mail one bookmark to your partner as per the guidelines of this swap, but you may wish to mail more. This is fine, as long as you realize you may only get one in return from your partner, since this is all that is required.
