Description:

If you haven't made them before, matchboxes make adorable little alterable containers and are usually filled with small little trinkets. For our swap, we will be filling them with Keeper-related items.

Matchboxes are easy to make, and there are a ton of resources online to help you. They are made of paper, from a template. Here are my favorite two templates: Rachel's (which is right here on the swap-bot blog) and Mirkwood Designs (they have loads of cool templates, be sure to check the others out after this swap).

The contents of our boxes should include items that are Keepers of Avalon in theme. Use your imagination but do try to fill the box as much as you can. They're tiny, so you don't need a lot to really fill it up. Things like buttons, beads, brads, or even a handwritten tiny scroll with your favorite medieval quote or poem would be perfect. The items can be re-usable, supply type items (like brads), personalized items (like the scroll), or even symbolic items like crystals, stones, or tiny runes.

So, here's the basics...

  • 1 matchbox for 1 partner
  • standard, 32 count matchbox size (approx. 1.5 in wide x 2 in long x .5 in tall)
  • both the inside and the outside of the box must be decorated (i.e. covered with paper, painted, stamped, etc)
  • the box and its contents must be Keepers of Avalon in style and theme (medieval, renaissance...if you're in this group you know what I mean.)
  • the box should be as full as you can fill it without bulging the sides of the box
  • somewhere on or in the box please indicate your swap-bot user name so we'll always know who made it. (Such as signing the bottom of the box, or write your name on a tiny piece and paper and include it in the contents of the box.)
  • pack them safely for shipment so they don't get smashed by the postal system...a small padded envelope will work if you wrap the box inside with paper or bubbles. A package really isn't necessary for these, and using a padded envie will save you postage.

This swap is newbie friendly, but please send your best work.

The swap date is six weeks so you have plenty of time to experiment, and because we currently have a few different swaps going on!

If you have any questions, please post them here.
