Sewing Kit from Hard-Shell Eyeglass Cases! I thought I had seen it all! I saw this made on B Original TV show, but I could not find the instructions online - anywhere. It turns out to be easier than I thought. If you don't already have one around your house, they can be found at thrift stores and yard sales. Avoid transparent ones because if you use glue it will show through. I made my first one from an old hard-shell eyeglass case and a mini sewing kit. I used felt to line the top that had a little pocket to hold the scissors, and loops to hold safety pins and butons. The bottom half had a pincushion made from a tube of felt that I glued into place. That left plenty of room for the thread, thimble, measuring tape and needle threader that came in the original kit. The cases tend to roll to the center, but everything stays in place this way. Swap Requirements: You will have one partner to make a travel sewing kit from a hard-shell eyeglass case. It can be new or recycled as long as it's good quality and not beat up. The contents should include a pincushion, scissors, pins, needles, and spools of thread. Extras that you could include if they fit are safety pins, measuring tape, thimble, floss, buttons etc. Please be generous with your partner and make her something that is a show-off item! Sending the swap by the send date is a swap requirement. If you send late, then you didn't meet all the swap requirements. Swapper Requirements: Open to U.S. and Canadian swappers with a minimum of 10 package swaps that have been completed and rated. (not ATCs, stickers, emails, postcards etc.). Swappers need to have a rating of 4.8 and higher and no 1's. You can email me if you have a one and you feel you had tried to make it right. Please be fair, and don't join if you are already to busy to make this a quality, well-made swap. I always read profiles before assigning partners. If you appear to be sending swaps late, or might pose a problem to other swappers I will have to drop you. It's hard to ban (drop) swappers because it causes hurt feelings, but I do it. If you're a newbie and want to give this a try I'll assume the risk of swapping with a new person and set up an identical swap as a private swap between you and I. And, you still get rated too. |
