Description:

Love discovering new music? Why not share some of the music that you listened to as a kid! In this swap, we'll be exchanging mixtapes via e-mail filled with all of the best music to reminisce to. You can include your favorite songs from when you were younger, songs that inspire memories of your childhood, or even just popular songs from then.

What You'll Be Sending:

  • One (1) online mixtape filled with a minimum of ten songs. You can send the same mixtape to all five of your partners, so don't worry about making five mixes. The mixtape can take any form you'd like - you can put all of the songs in a folder and e-mail them, make a mix on 8tracks.com and e-mail the link, or use any other means you see fit.
  • One (1) short explanation as to why you chose each song. You can simply write this out in a text file, make a pretty image with your explanations, or do anything else so long as it says why you chose the songs you did. Be creative, though!

Requirements:

  • No 1's allowed. Less than three 3's are allowed, but you must privately contact me before the swap start date in order to participate. All profiles will be manually checked prior to the swap start-date.
  • I reserve the right to boot anyone from the swap if I see them as unfit.
  • Newbies are welcome, but all profiles must be filled out completely.

Extras:

  • Add more songs and an elaborate explanation for hearts!
  • This is an E-SWAP, so we will be e-mailing everything. Nothing at all will be sent via snail-mail.
  • Feel free to contact me if you have any questions at all~!

@TerryF I'm pretty sure it does. It's all legal, streaming audio on that site as far as I know. :-) It's pretty sweet, check it out.

@TerryF - Yes, it does. I recommended swapping your mixes through 8tracks because that's the best way to eliminate all grey areas in terms of legality. That site follows internet radio broadcast laws essentially turning your mixes into a temporary radio stream, so you won't be able to post songs from the same artist more than twice and you won't be able to post songs from the same album to keep it legal.

Let me know if you have any more questions about the legal aspect! I'm actually a radio DJ at WPIR in Brooklyn, so I have to know all about this stuff, haha. :>

Could you send the songs with links to youtube videos instead of using 8tracks?

Dooped 01/ 2/2011 #

@frecklessobe Absolutely! You can use any means you'd like to send your playlist, whether it be through 8tracks, Youtube, sendspace, or even just a list via e-mail!

Tried using 8tracks but site redirects. I will be using YouTube!

I am not really sure , what I am suppose to do , am I just suppose to write ten songs out with links, and why I recommend them from my childhood?

Dooped 01/ 6/2011 #

@meljauprice What we're swapping are electronic mixtapes filled with music, and the theme for the mixtape is music that has to do somehow with your childhood. You can write ten songs out with links, upload songs to 8tracks.com, share music through youtube, or share your music any which way you desire. The only guidelines beyond that are:

a: You must actually be sending music and not just a written list b: The music you're sending is legally acquired

I recommend using 8tracks.com because it forces your mix into legal broadcasting guidelines, therefore it abides by both U.S. copyright laws and Swap-Bot music guidelines. Please re-read the swap information if you have any more questions - everything is explained there.
