This looks like so much fun!!! I am not sure what a fairy door is. Can you put up some links so we can see what we are doing? I love this idea!!! Thanks for hosting!!!

Ooohh, I don't have a link, but a fairy door is a small beautifully decorated door that opens into a fairy world. They are usually located at the bottom of a tree, sort of where gnomes would live. The door for our swap would be cut from the top of the large matchbox, where it could open and shut. Of course, it would need to be beautifully decorated. You could attach another piece of cardstock on top of the matchbox top and decorate that also and then cut it as part of the door...so many ideas...Then the inside would be etereally decorated as the under ocean magical world it is. Hope this helps.........

Oohh, one more thing, the matchbox could either go horizonally or vertically. I would do mine vertically....just more pleasing to my eye. Smiles!!

When you say "top" do you mean when it's laying down like a coffin? We would cut down the side crease to make it open and then stand it up vertically?

Is this a decorated matchbox or a shrine? or a matchbox shrine?

samjowers 02/20/2011 #

I think that it is both. It is decorated with a door and is a shrine on the outside.
