Description:

Coming from a textile design background, I've always been interested in what happens to imagery when it appears in multiples.

In this swap, you'll need to print multiples of one image onto a postcard. You can print very small images that don't overlap, or bigger images that do overlap.

You'll make one postcard for one partner. (No smaller than 4 inches by 5.5 inches.) Send it without an envelope ("naked").
Write a note on the back, even if you just say hi or explain how you made the card. :) Make sure any water-soluble media you used are properly sealed, so that it makes it through the mail in one piece. (Sometimes it rains outside!)

You can use any print making method you like, as long as the images used are produced by your own hand. (For instance, a hand-carved stamp is fine, a store-bought stamp is not.)

The inspiration is "geometric." You can think of it as plain geometric shapes, like triangles, squares, and circles, or you can interpret it more creatively, if you like. Artist's choice.

A very simple example that would fulfill the requirements is carving a stamp into a circle, and printing polka dots onto a 4 inch by 6 inch piece of card stock. Keep in mind, though, you can get way more complicated than that!

Hey guys! Let me know if you have any questions. This is my first time hosting in the group, and I'm really hoping to turn this into a series. :)

Great swap idea! Thanks for havin' it be a postcard instead of an ATC!

Ha ha ha! Thanks Fiona, I have warm & fuzzy feelings for postcards, too.

I'm a digital artist, so am I allowed to draw a digital image and print it out repeatedly? You'd definitely be the only person with this postcard.

chewytulip 03/ 6/2011 #

Sure, creepyweirdo! As long as it is your own drawing/image that you're using to print. I think digital printing is just another fun avenue to explore. :)

Last chance, watchers! You've only got a few hours left to decide to join in on the fun! :)
