For this swap you will decorate one altoid tin (or similar tin) so that it looks magical, like with starry or magical papers/fabrics, gods/goddesses or whatever you can find that looks magickal.

Then, you will fill it with magickal items. Here are some ideas, but you are not limited to them, and if you have some ideas maybe you can post them in the comments section. Small stones/crystals, dried herbs, runes, pendants, pictures of deities, mandalas, i ching coins, pentacles, incense, spell scrolls, a small magick mirror....the list can go on and on.

Please comment below with items you'd rather not receive or are allergic to

You will have one partner to whom you will send one altered altoid tin (or similar tin. The round altoid tins or sucrets tin...basically the common tin size. Not a flat tin).

All Crafty Witches can join this swap!

I'm watching this one as I have a pretty full dashboard but would love to join in :D

This is great - Ive been saving an altoid tin for MONTHS waiting for a swap. ALLERGIES: lavender essential oil, cheap incense (cause headaches) - no pentacles (I use the triskele or tree as a symbol)

What does not a flat tin mean? I've only seen one altoid tin here in the pound shop with sweets inside I think. Just noticed it this afternoon. If it would be suitable I'll go and buy one tomorrow. It's a rectangle, cuboid sort of shape.

Greenwoodtree 03/ 3/2011 #

Gofeen - they are about 1/2" tall - so not flat - its probably what you have there - the pic above for the swap is the size an shape of the ones here in the states

CajunLady 03/ 3/2011 #

So is this supposed to be a shrine or a filled tin?

Morgaine 03/ 4/2011 #

Sorry to sound dense, but what IS an altoid tin?

CajunLady 03/ 4/2011 #

Morgain, altoid tin

oreon 03/ 5/2011 #

A filled tin @ Cajun Lady---Sorry to confuse...I know the pic above is a shrine. It was just so pretty I couldn't pass it up. =D

Morgaine 03/ 5/2011 #

Does the lid need to be hinged to the box, or can it be a seperat lid. The boxes we have in Denmark that are like this mostly have seperat lids as far as I know.

oreon 03/ 7/2011 #

Seperate lid is fine. =D

Morgaine 03/ 8/2011 #

Okay thanks. I wont join until I*ve found a tin however. I did that with another swap once and I had trouble finding the item I needed to alter and very nearly did not make it on time.

Morgaine 03/ 8/2011 #

Oh, and what is common tin size? ;-) It would not be the same here in Denmark I'm guessing, so a measument would be good, so I can make sure it's not smaller.

oreon 03/ 8/2011 #

3-3/4" Long, 2-3/8" Wide, 3/4" Deep 9.5 cm, 5.9 cm , 1.9 cm

All of these measurements are approximate. Find a palm-sized tin & join us. =D

Morgaine 03/ 9/2011 #

Great :-) Thanks for translating it to cm, saves me the trouble ;-)

SylvanaWolfspaw 03/13/2011 #

Actually, the ones I've seen in the past have all been hinged in Denmark and the ones that I have found now....They are all with chewing tobacco, darn it! The other only one I've found opens from the top and that kind of defeats the purpose. I am going to England at the end of the month, but if I can't find any there, I have to drop from the swap, unfortunately :S

oreon 03/14/2011 #

Hinged is fine @Sylvana ---That's the type I will use. =D But any sort of tin that fits in the hand is great....it doesn't have to be a specific type. As long as it fits in the palm of the hand. It can be plastic, wood, metal. =) Whatever you can find is great.

SylvanaWolfspaw 03/15/2011 #

Woohoo! Someone found a place where they have them galore! With mints! Woohoo! I am so in! ;) However the one I found is 6 cm deep, 4,5 cm across and 1,5 cm tall (when lying down). How is that? Would that be okay?

p0cketwatch 03/16/2011 #

Ah, lovely, a new member swap! This is a perfect swap for me to start getting active in the group. =)

catnipitis 03/17/2011 #

I'm already getting my items together! I hope who ever is my partner enjoys it!

JenneLynne 03/18/2011 #

i can't wait!!! :)))

oreon 03/22/2011 #

Yup...sounds good to me. =D

SylvanaWolfspaw 04/ 7/2011 #

Oh, Oreon I found one which is more square but not as tall/high as the requirements. It's practically impossible to find the correct size outside of the States it seems :S But if my partner doesn't mind, I will use that tin and add some extra goodies if need be. :D
