I'm thirty three.
I'm a mother. I'm a stay-at-home, home educating mother of two young girls. Nothing really matters compared to them.
I'm a business woman. I'm a work-at-home director of our Information & Network Security Consultancy business. I do the numbers and the words.
I love journalling. I've actually got 16 journals next to me right now, though I'm migrating the function of many of those into my lovely new Bullet Journal.
One I won't be migrating is my menstrual journal. I bound it myself at a workshop run by an awesome friend of mine. This is another big thing for me right now - awareness of your menstrual cycle. It's something that our culture and the medical establishment try to erase - ironically both at the hands of the patriarchy and of large swathes of feminism. We're in denial that we actually have this awesome power in the cyclical nature of our selves, which if we can only accept and understand it has the potential to be amazingly powerful. If you push through low-energy times in denial - if you don't stop to listen to what your body is telling you, if you don't harness the high-energy times.... you're doing yourself an injustice.
I don't listen to nearly as much music as I'd like to. Music is magic. Favourites include:
I love music for its ability to transform the mood of a room. For the way it can envelop you and comfort you, and suffuse your very being for a while.
I love reading poetry. My favourite will always be Carol Ann Duffy's The World's Wife, but I love to read new poetry. I joined the Poetry Book Society so four times a year they send me their current favourite book, and reviews and extracts from other current ones.
Imagery I particularly love includes.....
I don't get to watch nearly as much TV as I'd like, but past loves included:
I've loved watching Game of Thrones recently, though it often left me with a huge need to play Skyrim. I'm currently reading the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire.
Other games I've enjoyed recently include:
I also enjoyed Far Cry 3 and several of the Assassins Creed games, though AC2 is probably my favourite because of the geography and history of Italy.
I'd like to paint more. I am on my second year of Tamara LaPorte's Life Book course, and I don't do nearly as much of it as I'd like, but I do love mixed media art. I also really respond to the healing aspects of her work - art as therapy. It's powerful stuff.
In what now feels like a former life I used to love doing altered books, ATCs, and round robin books. I've not done much of that for a long time, though sometimes still do ATC swaps with some close friends.
I also love Jelly Belly beans, chai, Lego, notebooks, washi tape & sticky notes.
But mostly my kids :)
