My name is Jen. I'm a biochemistry student. I have two pets - a dog named Tesla and a cat named Yoshi. We're thinking about expanding our menagerie with a few arachnids and fish, but not yet. I'm happily married with two school-aged children, one of which may pitch in some art here and there.

I like nature. I have a ton of house plants from common plants to succulents to carnivorous plants. My partner and I are currently working on overhauling our suburban yard into a pollinator paradise. I'm thankful my town has a lot of green spaces, and some of my happiest moments are walking through the woods with my family.

I drink a lot of coffee and tea and I think taking time to sip on hot tea is vastly underappreciated. I'm sadly caffeine addicted, but that comes with the territory of being a student and undergraduate research assistant.

Favorite teas: Black milk, ooglong, lady gray, ginger, chai, mint, matcha, and spearmint.

I like cozy blankets, fall breezes, and playing on the Switch with my partner. I love the energy of a windy beach with the waves crashing onto smooth sands. I also love the stillness of a freezing winter night - especially when the International Space Station is flying overhead with glimpses of crisp, clear stars. The latter doesn't happen much around here in the Southern US - it's a bit warm.

My favorite color is grey. My favorite animal is the elephant.

My one true love is soap making, but unfortunately I no longer have the time, nor the energy, for the process and cleanup that cold process soap making requires. I'm on a two year hiatus, and counting. I also enjoy making planters and pots and have dabbled a bit in making paper. I've been working on watercolor and keeping a bullet journal for the last couple of months and absolutely adore the process of both. My washi tape collection is growing at a rapid pace.... pleasesendhelp. I'll try every craft once, and I wish I was better at lettering - lefty struggles.

It's pretty stereotypical for someone to say they listen to a bit of everything, buuuuuuuuuuuuuut I kind of do. Lately I've been listening to a lot of punk, 90s rock, ambient, lofi hiphop, a touch of bossanova, a dash of futurebass, and a sprinkle of kpop.

My favorite television shows include The Office, Parks and Rec, Futurama, Archer, Cowboy Bebop, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Stranger Things - really mostly cartoons and comedy - nothing too serious, as life is already serious enough.
