I am a (former) middle school art teacher, currently a hearing specialist, from the mid-west. I love all kinds of art and disliked those that taught it, needless to say, I had very little inspiration from art classes (and teachers) in the public school system.
I really enjoy Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, reminds me of vacation. I grew up in the 80s so any hair band brings back the memories of concerts, first concert was Motley Crue! Looking forward to getting to live music post-covid. I can't day there is any music I really dislike.
I like historical non-fiction from Phillipa Gregory and currently reading some MIchael Criton. I love anything with vamires and started J.R. Ward series of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, Anne Rice and ofcourse Stephanie Meyer. (http://thumb16.webshots.net/t/55/755/0/9/26/2320009260103713136MzLXpF_th.jpg)
Jodi Picoult is my favorite fiction writer. I also like Malcome Gladwell's books.
Today show, Young Sheldon, Big Bang Theory, Highlander, Bridgerton, GOT, don't really watch much since I'm usually busy. (http://img10.glitterfy.com/graphics/37/spongebob_2.gif)
Always working on a new craft...crocheting baby blankets right now but always have wool felt, paint, collage materials, cross-stitch, and most other materials ready to go incase I get "inspired"...sometimes I think distracted is the better word here. Still loving the scrapbook thing, I miss Archiver's! Also like: Beading, Scrapbooking, Cross-stitching, felt applique, and crocheting. Starting to look at painting again using recycled furniture, thank you Pinterest:o)
My favorite colors are teal with a burnt orange/red, deep purple, golden yellow, and sage green. If I have to choose clothing or shoes that come in a variety of colors but the same style I almost always pick black. I like patterns and new projects, since I seem to acquire these items frequently. I like baking and usually find a way to "play" with the food and make something sculptural instead of flat, it's usually edible afterwards. I also love anything Hawaiian and the Iowa State Fair! I enjoy getting handmade items and appreciate the variety of artistic styles that people have.
Sea turtles, Seashells and beach sand, Miniature crocks, shillouette pictures, Hallmark ornaments (I got started by a family member when I was little), Handmade santas, Beads, Recipes, Pug dog items, Circus clown stuff, Pasanky dyed/hand painted eggs, Cross-stitch patterns, Craft projects, Fabric for Halloween, baby and, Christmas quilts (just another hobby I don't have time to pursue!) The occasional postage stamp...I used to belong to a club! Hawaiian stuff, mostly old travel pictures and brochures, everything is so "touristy" now! Dotee dolls, buttons, rubber stamps, pretty much anything related to arts and crafts!
White cake, Chocolate dipped strawberries, soft serve ice cream, coffee drinks, strawberry shortcake, fresh pineapple and caramel puffed corn! Not a fan of milk chocolate. No allergies to anything either.
Snakes, Apples (the collectable stuff, everyone thinks that you collect it if you are a teacher), Socks that are too small (I have huge feet, shoe size 12), Fruity teas and glitter (sorry, art teacher phobia-my friend Marcy loves the stuff)
What I don't like about this site: People that are sooo into this site that they won't accept a package a day or so after the deadline and rate it a 5. I am a laid back swapper, I do not understand why you are checking the dates of postage and you base your rating on that? I've never flaked and most of the time I can send by the due date. I don't sign up for a lot of swaps any more, mostly because I get things I don't think people really take the time to make. When I swap, I read the person's profile and take time to complete that swap and personalize it. If it's a great package and it's a day or so late who cares? I'm here for fun and personal motivation...I have recieved so AWESOME swaps here and met some great people but why be so uptight about the swaps?
Anything with Marilyn Monroe, Thirteen going on 30, The Princess Bride, Monsters, Inc., The Fifth Element, Harry Potter.
