Update 4/23/10
Hello all, We moved to Texas 4 yrs ago after living 23 years in Alaska. We decided it was time to retire BUT life changes & economy dictates at least part time employment for my hubby and me.
Since Oct 2009, I am now officially retired due to health problems aggravated by exposure to respiratory diseases. I really miss working part time but can now dedicate more time to grandkids, crafts & sewiing.
Live life to the fullest. Enjoy your children; forgive your enemies; tell people you love them; live each day the best you can.
I have 2 sons and 6 grandchildren in TX, a daughter & gr. daughter in MN and my eldest son lives in FL. Had to move to TX - majority rules. LOL
I have an autistic grandson and I am a supporter of Autism Speaks.
My Hubby and I have one 4 legged kiddo named Charlie who is a Jack Russel/Chahuahua mix, also known as a Jackwawa and he honestly climbs trees & is so much fun.
We live in a quiet valley on 5 acres and have many birds and love sitting on the patio in the cool mornings and evenings to watch them feed, sing and play. Butterflies, hummingbirds, deer, roadrunners and wild turkeys are bountiful.
Movies...* Finding Nemo *Hannibal Lector series with Anthony Hopkins *Dirty Dancing *anything with Bruce Willis...sigh
TV...* NCIS * American Idol *Project Runway *Hell's Kitchen *Top Chef *The Closer *Bones *Burn Notice and Castle.
Music... *Classic rock n roll *Neil Diamond *ABBA *Fleetwood Mac *CCR *Tina Turner *Pink Floyd *Big band music and 70's music.
My hobbies & crafts:
Sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, needle felting, bead embellishments, art dolls, art quilts, water color painting and ceramics; I recently discovered Zentangles and they are so much fun to make.
I just started collecting postcards & enjoy the historical & state map cards, so any cards from any cities or states is appreciated. I would love to have postcards from other countries also.
You can see my website for more of my creations of fabric postcards & ATCs. I'm going to include some of my inchies & charms shortly. (I keep saying that & keep putting it off).
I love, love, love fabric and fiber I do very little with paper but have created paper ATCs and find working with paper a challenge. My house is smoke free & my dog does not go into my studio at all.
I read anything including true crime, fiction, non-fiction, quilt, knitting and crocheting books, craft and bead books, surface design books and enjoy magazines - *Quilting Arts Magazine, *Cloth, Paper, Scissors *Fiberart and many more.
LIKES:
100 % cotton fabric, batiks, tone on tone & big floral prints, neutral, earth tones & bright seasonal prints and colors. fish, dog, birds and cat prints such as Laurel Burch are wonderful. I don't need many stripes or polka dots & I have plenty of solids.
fat quarters - anything less than a yard is fine with me; fabric charms or quilt squares 5x5 & larger, jelly rolls and 10" layer cakes. Sewing notions and thread are always welcome.
wool, soy, silk or cotton roving fibers for needle felting
seed beads, crystal beads, hot fix rhinestones, small charm embellishments & angelina fibers .
paints of any kind, water color pencils, ultra fine pens.
threads - metallic, polyester, cotton and variegated, yarn, floss, ribbons, nice lace and buttons
favorite colors are bright colors including green, blue and purple but all colors work well on the color palette.
DISLIKES::
cartoonish, silly or children's fabrics for right now. I have plenty for the grandkids.
kawaii or cutesy things & I have plenty of notecards & stationary & stickers.
olives & eggplant - shuddder
people who flake or don't rate
I drink ice tea all year round made with fruit teas, but will take all flavors, loose or wrapped and mix my own conconctions. I'm don't care much for herbal teas-except mint.
I could eat nuts 24 hrs a day - peanuts, pecans, macadamias, pistachios, almonds - you name it - I'll eat them. I love candies, cookies and ice cream loaded with nuts. M&M peanuts, Payday, nut bars, nut clusters, and Rocher Ferraro candies are my favorite. Nuts are good for you too!
Other candies include licorice- black & strawberry,
Jelly Belly jelly beans are awesome.
Soft chewy candy such as taffy, caramels & the Brach soft candies.
Enough for now... Happy Swapping!

Thank you so much for the pamper me package. I have already ate the chocolate. Mmmmm good. I it very cool to meet fellow Alaskan's. I only lasted 20 years. I am so confused of where you live now. I am sorry it has taken me a few days to get this done. I can only sit for about 2 mins max before I am running off to see where Mom is. Thank you for being my Farmville friend. It is one thing I enjoy that is calming after a really long day.
I received your package from 2010 pamper me. Some of the things you sent I have never seen before. My favorite was the little nail files. Those are so cool. They went straight into my purse and I will use them. I love skittles so the lip balm is a lot less calories then the real thing. My Granddaughter try to convince me she needed the lip stuff. She is so sweet, but she still did not get it. Thank you so much!!!
Thank you for the pretty purple batik FQ!!!
Thank you so much for angeling the landscape fabric swap for me!! The fabrics you sent are wonderful!
