Update 8/19: I ended up having preeclampsia and massive swelling (I looked like the Michelin Tire Man!). I'm still recovering from certain related issues, but I'm proud to announce the safe and healthy delivery of my baby girl four weeks ago on July 21st. She's gorgeous and I'm in love! :)
I'm now in the home stretch of my pregnancy -- BabyMinx is due in mid-July and I'm now 35 weeks :) It's been a tough pregnancy, though a joyous one, nonetheless! Alas, one of the worse (for me) side effects is that I have pregnancy-related Carpal Tunnel and cysts in my dominant hand, so I haven't been able to craft for months -- this is why I haven't been swapping. The doctor says this should go away after I deliver, so let's hope that's truly the case!
I can't wait to meet my baby girl in a few short weeks! I do look forward to getting back to swaps!
I'm still sick alot & low energy, though I at least manage to leave the house on occasion. I'll get back to swapping soon!
Due to being in the first trimester of a very high risk pregnancy, I am going to be taking a short break from swapping, but expect to be back in the New Year once I've hit the second trimester (keep your fingers crossed for us, please!). I will, of course, finish up current swaps/tags. Please realize that I have been really sick and super low energy, so I am way slower than usual with rating and sending -- sorry about that! Thank you for your understanding & a Happy New Year to you all!**
Please note -- I have become extremely sensitive to smoke. The smell of it makes me nauseated. Please, please try to not send me anything that smells like smoke!
Kindly please contact me before rating me a 3 or 1 -- I will do my best to resolve any problem! Not only do I care about my ratings, but I care about my partners having a positive experience in their swaps with me. I really appreciate open communication and being given the chance to make things right!
If you don't receive something from me, please let me know right away & I will send out a replacement. I always send out, but stuff does get lost sometimes & I am glad to make it up to you! I am bummed when people flake on me, so I try not to make anyone else feel that way.
I always rate! Usually I rate right after opening my mail or within a day or so at most. If I don't rate you, maybe there wasn't a note included & I couldn't figure out the swap or it hasn't arrived, but feel free to check with me :)
Please note: my name is spelled with an I (not an E) :)
I do reuse packaging, envelopes, and even note cards -- in fact, I recycle, reuse, re-purpose/upcycle as much as possible.
I live in a smoke-free, but not pet-free home -- we have many cats.I am sensitive to smoke (asthma) & patchouli (makes me sneeze violently).
I am newly married with a (step)daughter
Knitting and sewing are my favorite hobbies, especially socks and dishcloths. I also bake, make preserves from what we grow in our garden, do needlecrafts, and occasionally crochet. Eventually, I'd like to get into naturally dyeing yarns. I am also a very, very new quilter and would like to get into doing art quilts.
I’m actually an instructor in medieval studies/literature, so obviously I'm into medieval stuff, including fantasy novels and fantasy/mythological creatures. Beowulf is one of my favorite books.
I also read cozy mysteries and enjoy crime/mystery shows via Netflix like Law & Order (s), Bones, The Mentalist, CSI (s), Psych, Criminal Minds, etc.
I also like the Regency & Victorian periods -- Jane Austen, Jane Austen movies (and ones based on her books including Bridget Jones's Diary).
Love love love 30s 40s 50s 60s retro styles, whether knits, hairstyles, make-up, shoes, clothes, etc – my fave icons are Jean Harlow, Rita Hayworth, Natalie Wood, and Doris Day – one per decade ;) I have a small collection of Rita Hayworth-themed items and like to add to it. Pin up girl/rockabilly stuff is cool, too.
I love handmade items! I love receiving handmade goodies made by my partner, by someone on Etsy, by someone local to where my partner lives, etc.
If you want me to write back, either via letter or postcard, just let me know :)
I am trying to avoid candy and drinks/mixes for now, thank you! Although, if it is November-April or you are in Europe and want to send me some special candy/Haribo-gummies/chocolate/hot chocolate, that would be nice.
I can't have artificial sweeteners (migraines) nor do I chew gum.
I’m totally into sock-knitting. i am really into indie/hand-dyed yarns & prefer sock yarn above all else (Socks that Rock, Wollmeise, Sanguine Gryphon, Smooshy, Cascade Heritage, and so on). I mostly knit with sock yarn and worsted weight yarn in natural fibers. In terms of colors, I prefer tonals, semi-solids, solids, and heathers to wildly variegated yarns. Variegation in the same color family is ok, though :)
Fave fibers: natural fibers like merino/wool, alpaca, silk, cashmere, etc. Small amounts of synthetics in a natural fiber blend are ok. I confess I am something of a yarn snob as I do not at all care for novelty, fun fur, or acrylic yarns nor do I care for yarn from big box stores/craft stores (other than kitchen cotton or the natural fibre yarns)
I also like cotton for dishcloths & Cascade (220, handpaints, sock, etc) is always great.
Fave Fabrics: I really like the retro-modern look in fabrics. I also like cute Japanese/kawaii fabrics. I love fabric from Amy Butler, MODA, Rowan, Riley Blake, Heather Bailey, Michael Miller, Kerry Beary, etc. I also like batiks, fun, cute, bold prints and novelty prints (especially with the themes outlined on my profile, i.e. birds, flowers, cute woodland themes, fruit, vintage themes, etc) -- think WHIMSICAL, more than realistic or childish :) Not so into "country" type stuff. I also really appreciate sewing notions, patterns, magazines, etc.
I also really like vintage textiles of just about any kind along with vintage buttons, lace, other sewing supplies.
Favorite colors: greens, blue-reds/red-blues, pinks, violets & purples, rich browns, teals & blue-greens, yellows -- Truly, I enjoy most colors, especially cool or jewel-tones. I am not fond of "fall shades", though.
My kitchen colors are yellow, red, white, black, and grey. I have some red roosters things in there (French Provence /retro) roosters, not country roosters) -- it's a very retro-inspired kitchen with cherries and ladybugs (vintage Pyrex, vintage recipe boxes, copper cookie cutters, etc). I love handmade items for my kitchen.
Things I like: I like vintage, pretty, beautiful...not really into kid things/cute stuff quite so much (though kawaii/cute deco tape, fabric, and stationary items are exceptions & there are others)... address labels, note cards/stationary items, coin purses, letter sets/pen pal stuff, knitting and/or sewing notions (Gutermann thread, especially cotton, or other good quality thread!), zippers, small beads/charms for making stitch markers, 6/0 beads for knitting, buttons, DMC floss, bookmarks, vintage/retro cards, vintage/retro anything, bird motifs, ladybugs, flowers, cherries, vintage/retro or retro-inspired fabrics, fat quarters/yardage, handmade/quality soaps and bath products, lip balm, hand lotion, ribbons, crafty stuff, yarn, handmade envies, handmade stuff, mythological stuff, swap cards with or without my info, deco tape.
I prefer products NOT TESTED on animals or containing Triclosan, please (no $ store bath/beauty stuff).
I collect Wonder Woman stuff, so related items are always nice!
I am on POSTCROSSING & WALLTYPE (as SAUCY)!
I have started postcard & refrigerator magnet collections! If you're my swap partner, I would adore a post card or refrigerator magnet from your country. I love both unused pcs in envelopes and written on ones sent naked. I would love blank map postcards of any type/place -- even duplicates My favorite magnets are either the business card size ones or the rubbery 3D ones & have the name of the city/state/country on them. As far as postcards go, I love ones with maps, with views of the city/state/region/country, that feature some kind of local landmark (especially castles! lighthouses! and other historical architecture), or that feature one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites -- in other words, touristy magnets and postcards :) but....
BUT I also really, really love Art Nouveu & Art Deco images, Arts & Crafts, vintage images, vintage postcards, vintage advertisements, Pomegranate brand, botanical, William Morris designs, art images, Alphonse Mucha, Maxfield Parrish, John Waterhouse, the Pre-Raphaelites, Tiffany, Victoriana, decorative arts, pre-mid-20th c. art, etc, whether on postcards or other things.
I'm not really into dotees, kawaii or other plushies, ATCs, inchies, FBs, etc :) I never thought I would have to write this, but please don't send me any Silly Bandz :)
I don't really wear jewelry, but if you are a beader, then I would love some stitch markers (i.e. jewelry for knitting), or zipper pulls or shawl pins, etc :)
I look forward to swapping with you!
