Hello! My name is Lynia and I am 28 years old. I am the mother of a beautiful three year old girl who happens to be my whole world. It's been a long time since I've done anything "snail-mail" related, but this site looked like a ton of fun, so I'm excited to see how it all goes!
I’ve dabbled in many crafts / crafty like things (Such as knitting, cross stitch, painting, collages, diamond painting, yarn spinning, etc). But I still need a lot of practice in most things. I feel like this site will be a good place for me to try some different styles and really get a feel for what kinds of art I love doing most. Maybe help develop a style more. And, in the process, I’ll get to see what wonderful things others create which I’m super excited for.
Aside from art, I’m big on writing. Poetry, short stories, essays, regular journaling, etc. I love to write and I love to read. I rarely share what I’ve written with others though because I’m so nervous about how it’ll be perceived, so I’m hoping that being here helps me gain some more confidence in that department and helps bring me out of my shell.
Honestly, I’m just so excited to see here and connect with different artists / collectors / writers from around the globe!
Before starting this list, I just want to say that I in no way expect you to base anything you send off of it. I enjoy seeing the creations and curations everyone comes up with on their own. If you're inspired to create something, don't be deterred because of this list. Make what's in your heart, I know I'll love it no matter what. But without further ado...:
Books. Fantasy and Historical Romance are my two favorite genres. Bonus points if the story happens to fall into both categories (such as 'Arcana' by Jessica Leake). That being said, I still love to read anything and everything. My current favorite book is 'The Glass Woman' by Caroline Lea.
Coffee & Tea (but mostly coffee)
Snacks that are both salty & sweet, or spicy & sweet
Lofi / Vaporwave Aesthetics (Nothing beats the way the colors orange, purple, and pink, blend together like a sunset sky)
Foxes. I'm honestly surprised I didn't type this first on my list because I have an ungodly obsession with foxes. Red foxes are specifically the ones I love most, but I do like snow foxes and fennec foxes as well.
NSFW / Political / Religious / 420 Friendly of any sort is a-okay with me. I'm not offended easily, and I may or may not agree with you on certain beliefs, but I still enjoy seeing what people are passionate about reflected in their art. (The big exception to this rule is that I absolutely do NOT want anything inherently hateful. I.E. Nazi symbolism, etc. I would hope no one here would ever actually do that, but I'm still putting that out there just to be completely clear).
Mythological and Cryptid creatures (Jackalopes, mermaids, harpies, etc.) I absolutely adore all of them.
Space / Galaxy / Aurora Borealis themes. Not so much things with rockets and astronauts (though I'm definitely not opposed to them) but more so I enjoy the night sky, planets, stars, the moon, etc.
Norse Mythology. I love mythology in general, but Norse Mythology will always hold a special place in my heart.
Anything Weird / Odd / Creepy / Laughably Ugly. I'm not kidding. I am currently trying to build up my collection of oddities. One of my favorite things is this weird figure with a coffee can body and a baby doll head. It's hideous and I love it. (Please note though, something that is laughably ugly is not the same as something that is rushed and had absolutely no thought or care put into it.)
Skyrim. I don’t always play video games, but when I do, it’s probably Skyrim. I have a deep, deep love for this game, and I’m sure I always will. It’s not just the game itself, but all the lore behind it and Elder Scrolls in general. Anything relating to this game or TES in general is a win in my book.
Postcards! I didn’t realize just how much I’d love them before joining this site, but they’ve quickly grown to be my favorite thing to swap! I’ve even begun collecting them. I prefer store bought, but I love any and all of them.
I'm sure there's more that could be added to this list, and I'll update as I think of things. Again though, please don't ever feel like you have to create or send something based on my likes. I always prefer to see the things the artist themselves wanted to create.
I always mark my swaps as sent as soon as they have been dropped off at the post office. This may mean (especially with flat mail) that they are post marked differently than when it says I send it. This is just because I have a habit of dropping things off in the blue box outside of normal post office hours due to my hectic work schedule.
I’m also a wicked worry wart (try to say that five times fast!), so if two weeks after a swap has ended have passed, (four weeks for international since I know they can take longer), and I haven’t been rated or messaged by you, I’ll probably message you myself just to make sure you did receive your item. If you haven’t, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to re-send ASAP.
Lastly, I will always do my very best to make sure I use the right amount of postage, but I’m human and I know mistakes can happen. If something comes to you postage due, please let me know and I will find a way to rectify it.
Happy Swapping everyone!
