I'm Susie, I'm 31 and I live in England, just outside London.I'm vegetarian, but like gummy sweets/candies too much to stop eating them because of the gelatine.
My favourite genres are indie/alternative/rock/folk. I especially like Canadian music. Favourite bands/artists are: Matthew Good, Pearl Jam, REM, Death Cab For Cutie, Simon & Garfunkel, Radiohead, Neil Young, Idlewild, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire, Belle & Sebastian and probably others that I'm forgetting at the moment. I've recently discovered Josh Ritter and have fallen in love with his album The Animal Years.
My book tastes are all over the place, just about everything except sci fi/fantasty and crime/thriller. Douglas Coupland is my favourite author and I always devour his new books as soon as they come out.
My favourite books are:
Oliver Sacks - The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat
John Steinbeck - Of Mice and Men
John Diamond - C - Because Cowards Get Cancer Too
Douglas Coupland - Girlfriend in a Coma
I make cards, I sew, I do cross stitch occasionally. I've just learned how to make soaps and bath goodies which is lots of fun. I'm also trying to re-teach myself to knit (I used to know how when I was younger) but I'm still very slow at it. I also plan to teach myself to crochet. Ooh and I'd love to learn how to make felt too. In the past I've done mosaics, glass painting and made my own candles. I was thinking of starting candle making again but my supplies were at my Dad's house and he threw them out when he last moved house (thanks for asking me first!)
Music
Concerts - there's just something amazing about standing in a room with lots of other people singing along to great music. I've travelled around Europe and to North America for concerts.
Canada and anything Canadian
Anything pink
Snow - we don't have that much here and it always reminds me of my childhood.
Chocolate - milk chocolate is my favourite. I don't like American Hersheys chocolate except when it has mint in it.
Stripy socks - I've lost count of the number I have, but there's always room for more! My current favourite pair were knitted for me by my friend's mum.
Ice skating - I used to skate a lot when I was younger but now I tend to only go once a year to one of the big outdoor rinks in London
Handmade/crafty things
Fabric - I barely have any fabric at the moment so I need to get a nice stash together.
Mooses
Miffy
Hello Kitty
Anything sparkly/shiny (I'm a magpie!)
Bath & body goodies - I don't have a shower, but I LOVE my baths.
Lavender (the plant/scent as well as the colour)
Baking - mostly bread and cakes, but other veggie food too. I love making my own pizzas.
I feel the cold quite badly so anything warm or warming is always welcome.
I like bright and pastel colours - pink, purple, blue and my favourites and dark red too. I've recently learned to love brown too, though only in deep chocolatey shades.
Candles
Hot chocolate - especially flavoured varieties.
I'd never heard of amigurumi until I found this site, but they're so cute! One day I will learn to make my own, but I have to learn to crochet first!
Kurt Halsey
Swap-bot has given me the beginnings of a cupcake addiction. They're so cute!
I'm currently just getting into rubber stamping so would love to receive cute stamps.
Things I don't like/would prefer not to be sent:
Coffee
Tea other than fruit/herbal tea
Peanut butter or thing containing peanut butter.
Cinnamon flavoured things. I love real cinnamon, but not the fake flavour that's found in candy etc.
The colour orange
American Hershey chocolate unless it has mint in it (Canadian is ok).
I can't wear necklaces as I had surgery on my neck and now it gets irritated. If you wanted to send me a nice necklace that would be suitable for me to give to a friend as a gift that would be ok though.
I don't have my ears pierced so can't wear earrings. Again, if you wanted to send me some that I could give as a gift that would be fine.
Gum
Chocolate/candy with nuts in (including pralines and marzipan). I'm not allergic, I just don't like the taste very much. I love nut roasts and nuts in savoury dishes, and will eat nutty things in chocolate selection boxes (can't let that chocolate go to waste!) but a whole box/bag of nutty chocolate is too much.
If sending me recipes please don't send any with ingredients that include store bought mixes or brand name foodstuffs. These are often not available here in the UK so I'm not able to use the recipes.

Hi Susie. Thank you for my Hello Kitty stationery - I love the blue colour! The buttons are adorable too :)
Many many thanks for my lush bathbomb and the lovely soap you sent me for my birthday, was a lovely package to open when I came back from my holidays, although if Sam had known what was in it I'm sure she would have used it before I came back!
Thanks so much for the great birthday chocolates, Soozy, and for the other pressies!
I wanted to let you know we have three new swaps in the British Birds group - I Wish For #3, I Wish For My Partner, and 7 Days Of Small Surprises.

You're welcome! I was worried I sent it too late, I'm glad the postal services got it there fast.
Susie you are the best! I can't believe you remembered I was in the musical scavenger hunt swap, but pulled out because of my migraines. I love your CD. Thank you for the fabtic and matchbox too - just my colours. Huge (((hugs))) Ellie
