hello :-)
My name is Emily, I'm 18 and from Australia. I love snail mail and craft which is why I joined swap-bot :-)
I adore retro and vintage ornaments, trinkets and craft supplies, which is why I am so addicted to op-shopping (thrifting I think it's called elsewhere).
I love looking in my mailbox each day and the excitement of receiving something lovely :-) I also enjoy the process of creating the mail and making it look pretty.
p.s I don't have any allergies :-)
p.s 2: I would never flake on a swap, and if you haven't received something of mine, please message me and I will be happy to resend :-)
I love:
sewing - I much prefer hand sewing to machine sewing, so my projects tend to be small.
knitting - I'm currently knitting a patchwork blanket for my bed :-)
embroidery- I have recently become a fan and I am trying to improve my skills - I'm not the best at it yet >_>
decorating things such as envelopes
I love love love 60s and 70s craft, its so kitsch!
paper craft
I have a variety of trinkets that I collect including:
buttons (especially old + novelty buttons - but I collect pretty much any if they are colourful)
ribbons and lace
stationary & stickers (especially Japanese stationary + stickers)
vintage wrapping paper
postcards - I am a keen postcrosser (my favourite ones are vintage and retro but I also love; cats, horses, flamingos, eagles, dinosaurs, wolves, donkeys, moomin, cheburashka, krtek, barbapapa, studio ghibli, christmas decorations, soviet cards, obama, the queen, lord of the rings, edward gorey and fiep westendorp. I am not really a fan of tourist cards unless they are old). Naked or in an envie- doesn't bother me. and written by you, or unused are both good too :-)
postage stamps (especially cat, children's illustrations/cartoons, christmas, fish, horse, mushrooms, moomin, roald dahl, US and USSR cold war era stamps, the queen and my favourite of all; space themed ones - also any vintage stamps)
vintage material
confetti, sequins and glitter
vinyl records (I love bing crosby, david bowie, chicago, the supremes, the platters, the hollies, the doors, the drifters, the coasters and the beatles among many others)
60s/70s craft magazines
70s kitsch decor- right now I'm going through a phase of loving macrame and shell decorations.
fake plastic flowers (the uglier/more fluro the better!)
real flowers and decorated/novelty pot plants ( I would love to receive a packet of flower seeds!)
cacti and photos of cacti
vintage christmas things - decorations- tinsel, baubles, ornaments, cards, wrapping paper, postcards, clothes. anything!
vintage tins, jars and containers
yarn - any colours :-)
fridge magnets (I love kitsch things so feel free to send one that you think is ugly. the more glittery / tackier, the more I love them :-P )
washi/decorative tape- I'm awfully obsessed at the moment.
tea cosies - I am up to 34 and plan to continue expanding my collection!
stamps and ink pads - I would love love love to receive these!
sparkly nail polish
I am not a fussy reader, I will read essentially any book from any genre.
My favourites of all-time are:
Tales of the Unexpected by Roald Dahl
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson
The Obernewtyn Chronicles by Isobelle Carmody
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by Tolkein
To Sir With Love by E. R. Braithwaite
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
legally blonde, bread and tulips, nightmare before christmas, spirited away, the boat that rocked (love the soundtrack!), the lord of the rings trilogy, parent trap, mulan and probably many more that I can't think of right now.
I'm quite happy to receive anything you think I will like but I would prefer not to receive tea or sharpies. also as I mentioned before, I'm not too fond of tourist postcards unless they are retro. thanks :-)
