I'm an illustrator and graphic designer and stay at home mom from the Chicago area. I have a 13 month old daughter and my own design business, so I keep myself pretty busy.
My new year's resolution is to focus more time on art -- drawing, painting, crafty stuff, collage, whatever -- and spend less time on the stuff that doesn't matter as much... so here I am!
I love music of all kinds, in every genre (though there are some things I like more than others). There's music I like that can be classified as rock, heavy metal, classical, Irish, folk, country, oldies, top 40, jazz, you name it.
I usually prefer historical dramas, like "Gods and Generals". I love history but have trouble staying awake while reading dry history books, so historical dramas (a fictional story set in the past) allow me to learn and be entertained -- the best of both worlds.
Drawing (pencil, colored pencil, ink), painting (oil pastel, acrylic, oil, watercolor), collage/mixed media and altered arts, beads and jewelrymaking, printing (linocut, woodcut).
Like books, I tend to like "boring epic-y historical dramas" like The English Patient, the Jane Austen series currently on PBS, that sort of thing.
I have no idea how I got sucked into the Desperate Housewives craze, but watching it is kind of like reading a women's magazine -- lots of fluff, little substance, but highly entertaining. I also love PBS: NOVA, nature documentaries, biographies, American Experience, etc. Between that and the fact that we have only basic cable (and we have that only because it's cheaper to have high speed internet and basic cable bundled, and I need high speed internet access for work), I'm kind of a TV nerd. :)
