I'm a university grad with a degree in French Literature. I'm Irish Canadian. I love to write, I love to travel. My favourite colour is BRIGHT
This is where I call home, on the Atlantic coast of Canada, right on the ocean. It's a beautiful place to live, and home to some of the friendliest people I have ever met.
I live here with my husband (married on September 7, 2014!) and our 3 cats, a DSH named Salem, a Russian Blue named Nico, and an Abyssinian mix named 8-Bit. I volunteer at the shelter, and absolutely love animals.
I am the kind of girl that squeezes toothpaste from the middle of the tube.
I'm fluent in both English and French, both of my country's national languages. Languages are my passion, and I would speak more, if I had the exposure!
I always rate as soon as I receive a swap. I am very easy to please, and I am generous with my hearts! If it's obvious you have put effort into what you have sent me, then you have earned one, as far as I'm concerned.
As far as swaps I send go, I strive for a heart. I will painstakingly go over my partner's profile and send them something that best suits them. Keep in mind, however, that I live in a small town, so this isn't always as possible as I would like. I always send! Canada Post can be a bit temperamental at times, so if you don't receive something from me, please let me know so I can make arrangements to re-send.
I am a big fan of music, especially electronic music, folk and indie, but I like a little bit of everything, and love discovering new music, so please enlighten me! Some current favourites right now include
♪ The XX
♪ City & Colour
♪ Bon Iver
♪ Bright Eyes
♪ José González
♪ Adventureclub
♪ Ellie Goulding
♪ Regina Spektor
♪ Deathcab for Cutie
♪ Citizen Cope
♪ Of Monsters & Men
♪ Imagine Dragons
I absolutely love thrift shopping! I head straight for the book section (you can get an idea of what I like by checking out my Book Depository wishlist). In the arts and paper section, I look for envelopes and stationery, notecards, used stamps, rubber stamps, postcards. I also make a stop in the women's clothing section. I'm a size medium and 30" waist right now, and love bright coloured fabrics, bohemian/hippie/vintage style. If I find a pair of bellbottom jeans, my entire week is made!
I've recently started keeping a junk journal, and love joining swaps to trade paper products! Here is a list of some of my favourites, but I would of course welcome anything you would enjoy receiving!
✉ used stamps
✉ anything mail or air mail themed
✉ washi tapes
✉ cute punch-out or cut-out images
✉ rubber stamps, or rubbed stamped images
✉ colourful post-it or sticky notes
✉ writing prompts (sn@p! simple stories, k&company, project life)
✉ ephemera in other languages
✉ little envelopes and/or notecards
✉ journaling cards
✉ anything cat or coffee related
✉ interesting receipts or tickets
✉ anything you think I'd like!
I have gotten some weird things in past swaps, so I will make a small list of things I do not need for my junk journal
✖ no rocks
✖ no marbles
✖ no damaged or smelly paper products
✖ no cut-up random pieces of paper (if it's a cute picture or saying, great! but no unattractive bits of paper)
(... yes, I have received all 4 of the above things in past swaps. I suppose it's still better than being flaked on though!)
Basically, if you don't want it, I probably don't either!
I post my mail from my neighbourhood mail box-- our local post office is too out of the way and I usually only go when I need to post a parcel. I mark my outgoing mail as sent the day it leaves my hands, but unless I get to the mailbox by 9AM, mail will be postmarked the next business day... that is, if we aren't experiencing a classic Canadian blizzard, as there's no pickup/drop off during poor weather conditions. Also, I should add that we only have Monday-Friday service, and my local post office loves using the postage-paid stickers, so I apologize in advance. I don't think they have the same patience as I do with affixing single stamps of various denominations!
As of March 31, 2014, our postage rates here in Canada have increased drastically.
The price for a domestic postage stamp has increased from $0.63 to $1.00 (or $0.85 if you buy a package)
The price to send to the USA has increased from $1.10 to $1.20 (not too bad actually)
The real crisis is in the increase to send internationally-- up from $1.85 to $2.50! This break my heart as obviously I will have to cut back on international swaps, it is just not affordable to pay such prices to send a letter or postcard overseas.
So if you notice I am less active on this site, that is why :(

We had a pipe burst on Thursday and have major water damage throughout our three storey house-- the whole thing needs to be gutted and rebuilt. That being said, I will fulfill all active Swap-Bot commitments, but will not be joining any new ones as I'm living in a hotel for the rest of the summer.
We have moved back into our home, and it's more beautiful than ever! It was fun living in a hotel suite downtown for the summer, but we are all happy to be home!
