I'm brand new to this website so bear with me please whilst I figure things out! >.<
Hey! I'm Charlotte (although I also love going by the nickname Lottie, feel free to use them interchangeably).
I'm currently in my final/honours year at art school, which is manic and stressful but so much fun! I study Interaction Design, which is a course all about the intersection of art and technology.
I'm actually working on my final project at the moment, which is what prompted me to sign up here. My work is based around aliens sending snail mail to each other. I'm going to set up little letters and trinkets written in "alien" languages, and have an AR app set up so that visitors can translate the messages. Together, it should build a kind of epistolary story about the alien recipient and his friends.
I love my concept a lot, but I realised that I didn't actually have much experience sending and receiving letters. I thought a lovely bit of research for my project would be to sign up to a site like this and exchange some mail!
I'm an only child and a bit of an extroverted introvert. I stay with my close friend/flatmate in a cute little city apartment. Come summertime and graduation, I'm moving to stay with my boyfriend until I figure out what I'm doing with my life.
As an art student, I'm quite the creative, and love doing papercrafts and similar things. I have a bit of a Tumblr kid aesthetic going on in my life, and I've not decided how I feel about that yet...
I absolutely adore cooking (and eating). I'm particularly into Asian cuisines due to their use of fresh, zesty ingredients and bold flavours. Basically the polar opposite of my local mince 'n' tatties!
Some things I love: space, cyberpunk, sci-fi, sushi, cool plant species, cityscapes, dense forests/woodland, anime, music (very varied, mostly rock), alternative fashion, short stories, comic books, technology.
There's not much that I wouldn't like to recieve, but I do prefer practical items over visuals-only things. I like items I can use. So stickers, stationery etc are more useful to me than origami or photo cards. Also not a fan of single-use plastics, if avoidable!
....
Hopefully you learned a bit about me! I look forward to participating in my first swaps :D
