I decided to join after hearing wonderful things in other communities. I swap via groups on Livejournal, Yahoo groups, and I'm also on Postcrossing. I'm looking for: friendship books, decos, slams, crams, etc., penpals, postcards, and other fun stuff.
I WOULD LOVE ANYTHING WEDDING-THEMED.
I'm 26 years old. My first baby just turned 2 in April, and that's crazy and exciting. I'm also recently engaged so I'm enthralled with and scared of all things nuptial.
I love all kinds of music, reading non-fiction books, things with Buddha on them, and my favorite color is green. I'm a Virgo. I just quit my job running a very busy restaurant. Now I'm learning how to potty train my son. I like to eat cereal and watch cartoons. I love poetry and hip-hop, and I've been collecting Hello Kitty stuff since I was 5. I used to speak French, but it's really rusty these days.
I like to trade things and hope to find lots of fun new swappers here :-D
TOM PETTY & the Heartbreakers, Social Distortion, Flogging Molly, the Beastie Boys, Sage Francis, Foo Fighters, Blues, Rockabilly, Punk, Hip-Hop
Lately, wedding books & magazines. I would love any new or used. I mostly read Non-Fiction. I love to learn. I also like flipping through magazines. All kinds.
I also have a 2 year old, so any recommendations in that area are always appreciated.
Like everyone, I have a lot, but I tend to watch comedies the most. Wayne's World I love! I'm always looking for new movies to add to my Netflix Queue (sp? something off like that.) I have a large collection of DVDs with Action, Drama, lots of comedy, random cartoons, kung-fu, the one romantic movie I love and bought (Ever After :-P) was borrowed and never returned, so I just have an empty box. 80s & 90s stuff. i'm easily entertained.
Well, I don't watch television in the common way. I watch what's available on netflix (amazing idea btw!) so I'm usually behind. Currently, when I do watch a "show" I'm on Season 5 of Lost (yep...still lost) and I like the Simpsons, Bones, Futurama, Weeds, Say Yes to the Dress (guilty pleasure as I plan for my own day :-D), and LOTS of documentaries.sometimes I'll watch The Daily Show online or something on Adult Swim, haha, but usually i'm stuck watching Thomas the Tank Engine with my son.
Papercrafts, Photography-related, Learning to Scrapbook, Macrame/ Hemp Jewelry/ Friendship Bracelets, beads, Altered Journals/ books, friendship books & decos, decopauge, flower pressing, origami/kirigami
I prefer cards with art on them, like illustrations and paintings, but I love all cards, so I guess it really doesn't matter. Homemade stuff is always welcome.
I'm grateful for all the postcards I receive, but I especially love cards with works of art on them (black and white or color), very colorful graphics (like cartoons, graffiti art, pin-ups, one of my favorite artists is at www.coopstuff.com), and pop culture like movies and music.
I also like religious images, I like images of Buddha, the Virgin Mary (with or without child - like the front of Christmas cards), lotus flowers, saints, pretty much anything.
I love punk rock and hip-hop, poetry, rockabilly, Hello Kitty, recipes. I'm interested in doing recipe swaps, that's something new I've never done before but I love to cook and bake.
I also will take anything Native American/ American Indian themed (but not those cheesy pics of half naked "Indian princesses.") I'd love cards with any kind of native art or things like that (like you might get from a museum.)
If there's a holiday coming up (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's, Columbus Day, whatever) I would really like some themed postcards. A million bonus points for vintage+themed. (squeal!)
homemade cards are cool too! i'm happy with everything.
i had a lady recently send me a home-made bookmark, and it was such a nice surprise! I love whatever it is you are inclined to make/ send.
Happy Swapping Friends!
Oh, and I haven't had a problem yet (knocks on wood) but it seems the popular thing to do, so if you don't get something from me, let me know. Even if you're just starting to think maybe it's taking too long, just send me a message. I'll send a replacement if necessary.

Hi sim1 - I see you like graffiti and urban art. Perhaps you'd be interested in a new swap I just created: Handmade Graffiti Postcard! Hope you check it out! :)
Thanks so much for the extra card! I LOVE it. Good choice. It's so colorful and expressive! I really appreciate it!
I got my cards today! It made me happy! And thanks for your writings on them!
Welcome to the group! :) Looking forward to seeing ya around the forums & in our funky little swaps.
Hi, very nice to "meet" you. Crocheting is very fun & a big stress reliever. It's very easy to learn to crochet although I'm having a bit of trouble learning to knit, even after watching the videos over & over. You can learn to crochet very quickly online, usually youtube, but there are other videos out there to learn from. Good luck & if you have any questions I'd be more than happy to help if I can--Joyce
Thanks so much for mailing my postcard back!!! I am lucky and my hubby will do the dishes :-)
Hi fellow newbie! :) Thanks for the comment on my profile & directing me to yours - I think we have a lot in common! I'd love to trade pcs and/or Hello Kitty with you some time (I just read that you've been collecting for a long time - your collection is probably huge, mine is.. well, small if anything ;)). btw, a great way to start crocheting is with the Creepy Cute book (she has a website: www.needlenoodles.com), you can make a lot of fun stuff for your baby :-).
xxx Myra
Welcome!
Yay, another newbie! :-) This is my first swap, so it's nice to see someone else who's new to this too! Congratulations on your son's birthday and your upcoming wedding! I'm a frequent commenter on A Practical Wedding and I HIGHLY reccommend it! My first year anniversary is in a couple weeks and looking back I can say APW is one of the best blogs to help keep you sane. And as a non-fiction and magazine lover, I'd recommend checking out Mental Floss! So brainy and fun...
And I love your eclectic list of likes...AND that rearranging your furniture is one of your favorite crafts! Anyone who can list that as a hobby and one of their favorites much have an awesomely arranged living room! :-)
Have a great Labor Day weekend! Alyssa
