How dismaying that your allergies prevent you from coming into very close contact with them, though. Have you ever considered getting a hypoallergenic cat? My mother is also an avid cat lover, and growing up at home meant always being surrounded by an indeterminate number of felines - we kept acquiring them, and giving kittens away to loving homes, so it was quite the cycle. We've only got three at present, but they are the most precocious, affectionate and intelligent creatures. :)
Like you, I am a keen reader - and actually, I was excited to see that you're a longtime Terry Pratchett fan, since I've been literally on the verge of beginning the Discworld series this week! I plan to buy them book by book, and to have the entire collection amassed by the time I'm done. Some of Pratchett's works, such as "The Hogfather", have been made into movie or miniseries adaptations - have you seen any?
Ooh, are you planning on taking part in NaNoWriMo this year? I've been considering it seriously and I think I will - this will be my first time! I know it's over a month away, but I'm already a little nervous just thinking about it. Have you ever been involved in any NaNo writing circles/support groups? I was thinking that would be an excellent way to boost morale. :)
