About Me

05/28 - Funds are SUPER tight right now. I'm sending everything out so don't fear. However the "extras" I always try to put in may be limited or completely non existent. I apologize!

  • If you have any issues with my swaps arriving late (or not at all) or arriving mutilated by the PO PLEASE let me know. I will do my best to re-send so you get items you can use.

  • I will ALWAYS rate... usually the same day that I receive your swap. If you haven't been rated, I didn't get it. If I will be late sending out (since we must admit life tends to be unpredictable) I will ALWAYS let you and the host know.

  • I'm not super anal, so if you're going to be late with a swap, just let me know. If it still meets swap requirements even if it's late, you'll still get a 5.

  • Namaste! My name is Rebekah and I'm temporarily a SAHM. The past 12 months have been CRAZY for me. I graduated with my BA in Women's Studies in May, was married in June, and had my daughter (Juniper) in Nov. I'm HOPING to get into grad school this fall. I also have a rambunctious 8 y.o. SD. Juniper Kyra

  • Now that I spend much of my time at home, I've rekindled my love for crafting, stamp collecting, scrap booking and POSTCARDS!

  • I found the site by chance through a friend's blog and have fallen in love with it very quickly. I had completely forgot about the romance I used to have with my mail box. ;)

Favorite Music

Mumford and Sons, Collective Soul, Blue October

Favorite Movies

City of God, To Wong Foo, Joan of Arc, Boondock Saints, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers, The Breakfast Club, Jacob the Liar, Phantom of the Opera, Rocky Horror Picture Show, memento, Seven, Constantine, DaVinci Code, Singing in the Rain, Men Who Stare at Goats, Smart People, The Ugly Truth, etc.

Favorite Crafts

I'm just beginning to get into scrapbooking, quilting and wreath making. I love just about anything that involves glitter.

(I secretly like pink, but I will probably NEVER use it for anything. I also don't care for bright yellow or oranges. Anything else is OK!)

I used to do a lot of beading and I love drawing and neat handcrafted papers, you know, with the little colorful flecks in it. My favorite colors are purples, greens and coppers. I love anything that looks vintage or antique. I love paisley and batik fabrics. I used to collect stickers and keychains, I still have some saved somewhere. I'm working on a baby scrap book for my new little girl.

I FINALLY just about finished Juniper's dresser. It was originally this horrible light veneer color with nasty flower stickers stuck all over it. dresser

Wish List

  • Fabric Post cards - I finally received one in the mail, and they are absolutely gorgeous. I'm still a little intimidated to make one, but maybe in the future. :)

  • Blank ATC cards

  • Stationary

  • Anything elephant related (esp. stone carved elephants, but stickers, paper... anything works!)

  • Anything peacock related

  • Pens or fine tip sharpies that write in purple or green or teal

  • Anything Juniper related (since my daughter's name is Juniper)

  • Flower/Veggie seeds

  • Scrap booking stuff - anything really - seasonal, flowers, baby related, etc.

  • Journals. I love unique decorative journals. Although I find myself too nervous to write in them, but perhaps if I had several I'd start using them for something instead of hoarding them.

  • Cook Books/Recipe Cards

  • I'm new to the concept of ephemera, but I love the idea of receiving old pieces of paper. I have a few ideas of what I could do with it.

  • Books in general - I love anything feminist related or non-fiction with an inspirational woman as the lead in the book. I also enjoy mysteries, biographies, autobiographies, poetry, quotes and coffee table books.

  • Fabric from around the world (charm squares work just perfectly!)

  • Then again, just about anything from around the world. I collect stamps, and coins, fabric, etc.

  • Batik, Paisley, Damask or similar types

  • Recipes (Particularly desserts and healthy meals)

  • Bookmarks

  • Dotee dolls - I want to make one, but I'm a little intimidated. Would LOVE to get one so I could see how it's done.

  • Anything religion related (except for Protestant Christian). I have a strange fascination for anything Wicca. I also love anything middle eastern or asian - Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim Sikh, etc.

  • Tarot cards (hand made or otherwise), crystals, incense, candles, etc.

  • Origami Paper

  • Plastic film cameras (not instant)

  • Unique papers

  • Post cards - Naked or Unused. I need to start stocking up for more swaps!

  • Coffee!!! It's my first love. ;)

  • I'm not much into teas, but I'd like to be. I do like some green teas, fruit flavored teas, and a hazelnut tea I found. There is also a wonderful tea I had in Nepal and I don't know what the name of it was.

  • Used (or unused) postage stamps from ANYWHERE. The older and more unique the better. I've been collecting since I was 5 and have two HUGE stamp books I'm still working to fill. I started with my great-aunt's book and have just gone from there. If you send me stamps you automatically get a heart!

  • ATCs - I've never made one, so I'd like to see one up close and personal before I attempt it!

Favorite Books

It has been awhile since I've read anything solely for pleasure. School tended to take up all of my extra time with the reading I had for those classes. However when it comes to a genre/type, I enjoy most non-fiction, biographies/autobiographies, academic feminist/ literature, inspiring novels/non-fiction, anything that makes you re-think what you already thought, anything activist related, mysteries, wiccan/magic centered, etc.

A few that I can think of off the top of my head are, Eat Pray Love, Feminine Mystique, Meena - Heroine of Afghanistan, The Forest People, Angela Davis - An Autobiography

Do not like:

It has taken me awhile to formulate a do not like list but so far this is what I have...

  • Anything evergreen scented. HATE it!

  • I do not care for holiday themed fabrics

  • I do not like a bunch of tacky stickers all over my post cards.

  • Itty bitty scraps of paper that are really too small to do anything with. I don't want your garbage - that's what a recycle bin is for

  • Trashy novels - never had a taste for them, don't really need to be clouding my mind with that crap

  • I'm not a fan of preachy type books - although I do enjoy philosophy, political books, etc. - just nothing with a very specific agenda

  • BRIGHT colors - Neons are gross unless used for highlighting

Lieve on May 20, 2010:

I have children myself, and when I was little, I grew up with only a mother who had no job so I didn't have much either. Now that I can give a little to other children who are in a less fortionate position than I ever was, I gladly do so. You've set up a great swap and you can be proud of yourself for that :-)

justchiara on May 14, 2010:

I'm glad you liked it. :)
