✍️ Six-Word Story Art Swap

Sign-Up Deadline: September 2, 2026 Send-By Deadline: September 16, 2026 Partners: 1 Type: Handmade / Flat Mail

This one is for the people who love tiny stories, paper, art, and making something out of almost nothing.

For this swap, you’ll write an original story using exactly SIX words and turn those six words into a small piece of art for your partner.

That’s it. Six words.

Which sounds easy until suddenly you’re deleting the word “the” because it has ruined your entire literary masterpiece. 😂

✨ What You Need to Send

Create one handmade piece of art featuring:

  • An original story that is exactly six words
  • Artwork inspired by your story
  • Your Swap-bot username somewhere on the back

Your finished piece can be:

  • A postcard
  • A notecard
  • A 4x6 art piece
  • An ATC
  • A journal card
  • A mini collage
  • A drawing
  • A painting
  • Mixed media
  • Another similar flat handmade creation

Your artwork can illustrate the story literally or just capture the feeling of it.

📖 Need an Idea?

A six-word story might look something like:

  • The tiny door opened after midnight.
  • She mailed hope in yellow envelopes.
  • We missed summer by one day.
  • Ghost cat guarded the pumpkin porch.
  • His suitcase contained only yellow feathers.

Please create your own original six-word story for the swap.

And yes, exactly six words, so give it one last count before you mail because tiny sentences are sneaky.

🎨 Make It Yours

There is no required art style and you absolutely do not need to consider yourself an artist to join.

Stick figures? Beautiful.

A gorgeous watercolor painting? Extra great.

Collage made from scraps? Love it.

Doodles, markers, crayons, paint, stamps, magazine cutouts, mixed media, digital elements you created yourself, or whatever else you enjoy using are all welcome.

Cute? Great. Vintage? Great. Colorful? Great. Moody? Great. Simple? Great. A little weird? Also great.

This is about telling a tiny story visually, not creating museum-quality artwork.

This is sender’s choice, so you do not need to match your partner’s favorite colors or aesthetic, but you are always welcome to peek at their profile for inspiration.

🎁 Extras

Extras are completely optional for this swap.

Please do not feel like you need to add extra goodies. The handmade artwork is the swap.

If you want to tuck in a sticker, little note, paper scrap, or something that coordinates with your story, feel free, but it is not required.

📬 Mailing

Please keep your artwork reasonably flat and lightweight.

You are welcome to mail it postcard-style or place it inside an envelope if you’d rather protect your artwork.

🆕 Newbies Are Welcome!

I absolutely want actual new swappers to be able to join!

If you are new to Swap-bot, however, you must have a fully filled-out profile before partners are assigned.

Tell us a little about yourself: hobbies, interests, favorite colors, things you collect, crafting interests, likes, dislikes, etc.

Blank, barely filled-out, or suspicious-looking profiles may be removed before partners are assigned to help eliminate possible spam accounts.

This isn’t meant to make it difficult for genuine newbies to participate. It’s just an extra step to help keep the swap safe and make sure your partner has something to go on.

⭐ Don’t Forget to Rate!

Once your swap arrives, please remember to rate your partner so they know their mail made it safely to you.

If something comes up or there is an issue with a swap, please communicate with your partner first. Life happens, mail gets weird, and a quick message can often clear things up.

Most importantly, have fun with this one. Six tiny words can tell a surprisingly big story.
