About Me

Updated May 11, 2026

Nine-oh-nine-six-oh

Rome (in Canada)

Life is in flux. I'll be hosting electronic swaps for the time being--mostly on the Electronic Swaps group and Snapshot Photo Craft Projects group.

Postage rates in Canada

$1.75 (last years price: $1.60) for a US stamp

$3.65 (last years price: $2.92) for an international stamp.

I like handmade. It's unique and personal. There's a greater feeling of community when sharing something we've made. It's a means of supporting and encouraging play, mindfulness, creativity, originality, and authenticity. My ABC list.

"You may not think of yourself as an artist, but I guarantee that there's a little piece of creativitiy within you. Share your gifts and our world will be a better place." -- Steven Boudreau 1949-2016

CREATIVITY IS GOOD FOR US

Feel free to cut up and repurpose my art into your work. Also, feel free to give it away (example, put it in a Free Little Art Gallery), or throw it away. Swapping for me is about creativity and connection, and not about the stress of accumulation.

DECOs & COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS

About decos, deco resources, collaborative projects, homers sent and received, and more.

You have my permission to move my decos and P&P postcards between groups and different collaborative swaps. You can even get a friend/family to fill in a section or page. The sooner they make the rounds and get home the better. πŸ™‚

Send me homers, (it doesn't have to be for a swap). I like finishing them up and getting them back to their waiting owners. πŸ“¨πŸ“¬

Homers that came back to me and homers I've mailed out (Expect spoilers.)

EXTRAS

No need to send extras to me, I have lots. But if you love to send extras then feel free. πŸ™‚ Rest assured, I do not rate based on extras.

If you are my 'send to' partner and love extras or only give hearts to people who send extras, please let me know and I'll send some extras.

THE THINGS I SEND

I put a return address on everything I send out.

I keep a photo-log of my outgoing swap items--front, back, and at the mailbox.

It takes on average 10 business days to get to most places. However, delivery is often 4 weeks to many places in the United States.

I will resend if my swap doesn't arrive within 8 weeks (It was 4 weeks when I started SB, then 6 weeks, now 8 weeks because mail service is getting slower and slower).

My Hosting Style

If you join one of my swaps here's what you should know about my hosting style:

Screening

I screen participants to minimize the risk of flakers getting in, and those who do not rate, and those who leave blank comments. I will remove participants with swapping histories that worry me. If you have any negative unresolved swapping history and want to join my swap please proactively message me to explain.

Nudge

If you haven't received a postcard around the one month mark, let me know. I will send out a nudge message.

If I have had to send more than one nudge message to a member, I may "ban" them from future swaps.

Blank comments

Please, no blank comments. When rating please comment on the item received. Example:

"Thank you for the Van Gogh sunflower postcard."

As a host, I read the comments each participant receives. I really appreciate reading a little description of the item. A description tells me the item was received and noticed.

Finished

I check to see that everyone is rated and will add a "Finished" stamp to the Discussion section when all items are sent, received, and rated.

Angel

If your partner flakes, PM me to let me know you posted the "1" and I will angel the swap.

Thank you to all who join my swaps and rate promptly and with a nice note.

Swap-Bot Frequently Asked Questions: What are the rating criteria?

Hosts: Rating Requirements Too Low?

Giving/Getting/Reacting to a Poor Rating

When you create a swap, if you get the following error message: 'Alert: Error creating swap. Please try submitting the information again. (Code: 1)', that almost always means your title is too long.

Newbies

Are you searching for newbie friendly swaps? Click on the 'Find swaps' tab, choose 'Newbie' under 'Category' and then 'Search'.

Also try contacting the host of the swaps you are interested in. Let them know you are new and asking for a private swap. Hosts aren't required to do this, but many hosts are willing to do a private swap, and you will get a rating.

While you are in the honeymoon-phase of membership, successfully completing private swaps are a great way to show you are serious and committed to swapping.

Many hosts have felt the sting of accepting a new member into a public swap before the 6-month mark only to have them disappear, leaving behind unfulfilled swaps. An example that affected me.

Helpful topics for newbies:

  • Top tips for newbie profiles

  • Safe Swaps for New Members

  • Check @OrigamiGrace 'Currently Hosting' list for 'Nice to Newbies' swaps

  • What does "sticker-slapped" mean? Here's a blog article with a good example. Sticker-slapping is frowned upon unless the swap specifically allows it.

  • Newbie hosts: If you get an error message when creating your swap, it's likely that your title is too long or your using a character in your title that is not allowable.

Comment: A great set of photos! The Ems looks cozy, and great font on the But First, Coffee. My favorite is the pink bookshop... but more for what's around it. It looks like its right on a walking path, nary a parking lot or a car to be seen! That just made me happy! :) Thanks for hosting and for sharing your photos!

Comment: Great choices! Especially catching that bee!
Response: I was happy with that bee, especially because my iphone got a clear shot. It doesn't always give me good results with close-ups. Thanks so much for the heart!

Comment: I love all your shades of purple!! And each of your photos has such a different personality! ha! My favorite one is the doors and chair... I love that shade of almost blue, with the purple curtains, not sure I'd want a black house tho, even if it makes those colours pop!! :) Thank you for sharing your photography! And thanks for Hosting!
Response: Thanks so much for the feedback. I lucked out with the purple shades. One of the big things I like about this swap is it keeps me on my toes for noticing things while out and about. Thanks for the heart!

Comment: Oh, these are Lovely!! The Dahlias, whoa! Those black leaves are crazy! And the other contrasts are striking as well: the Ginkgo with the sky and dark branches, and the Dandelion in the Phylox. My favorite is the tin sun you made! It speaks to me!! Comment: Great green photos. The onions look fun to grow.
Response: It's so easy to grow green onions stalks in the window for a second bunch. And it's great for a bit of greenery on the windowsill during the grey-white days of winter. Thanks for the heart. πŸ™‚

Comment: I am continually amazed at the various forms of flowers. Your orchids on a weed and the ranunculus are both prime examples of that. They look like a little rose, I will have to find myself some of those plants. The life-size sculpture of the horse also intrigues me. Thank you for the interesting collection of photos.
Response: Thanks for the great feedback. I agree about the forms of flowers. Everytime I visit a garden centre there varieties of flowers and plants I haven't seen. Last year it was yellow flowered dahlias with black leaves - a stunning combination. Thanks so much for the heart.

Comment: Thanks for your photos! As a European, I agree, it has a European flair haha. The wheels in front of the building look interesting! I also found out about wild orchids a while ago and I always thought they are just tropical plants, but they're not.
Response: So nice that my photos had an impact. Thank you for the great feedback.

Comment: Thanks for your Green photos! It's smart of you to regrow the onions!
Response: I especially like growing them on the windowsill in the winter to add some edible plant life to the winter months. Thanks for the heart! 😁
