I like all swaps really, but especially swaps involving...

• arts and crafts.
• writing letters to people.
• making up care package type swaps.
• historical letter swaps - all time periods!

I'm Eibhilin. :) I live in Aberdeen, Scotland, with my husband and I'm an Administrator for a Social Work team. My sister and I were brought up on museums, hill walks, art galleries, castles and National Trust visits, and since we lived in England as well, every time we go somewhere new now, I invariably remember that I was there when I was about six about five minutes into the visit. ;) It drives my husband mildly nuts! : P I run a local board games group, which I love running and going to - we have Sunday games sessions and social outings every month. We go to the cinema every week and to the theatre a lot as well.

Aberdeen is a city, but it has some lovely green spaces, a lot of which are hidden away. My favourites are the Persley walled garden and the Johnston gardens - the latter is a properly wild Victorian park with a pond, ducks and winding paths, and a great place to read.

Some facts about me!

Things that are important to me: traditional post, ( and therefore happy post! 😊 ), people, community, ( I run a local board games group, and love doing it), kindness and remembering that we’re all people and we should be looking out for each other.

Favourite crafts: pretty much anything except felting! I especially love crosstitch, which I’ve been doing since I was about 10, when my mum introduced me to it. Crafts run in the family – my mum and sister both like crafts, and my sister and I often have days when we spend the day crafting and watching TV or films. I also enjoy having evenings with friends when we have food, chat and all do different crafts. I enjoy painting, sketching, embroidery – I’ll give anything a go! 😊 Finding Postcrossing, ( and then the forums, Swapbot, the Reddit communities and much more), has also led me to the rabbit hole of handmade postcards, which I love to make and send.

My favourite colours are blue, purple and green. I also like pink and red!

I have a dollshouse, and enjoy making miniatures and exploring that world too. The dollshouse has a secret door at the side, ( it was custom made), and that brings me a lot of joy!

Science fiction – Star Trek, Bablyon 5, Battlestar Galactica, The Orville… I’ve seen a lot of it, and love most of it. The ideas, the characters – I love the speculative nature of it!

Fantasy and historical books: I love reading and like reading pretty much anything, but fantasy and historical books are a firm favourite. I love the world building, the characters and immersing myself in the universe. I can't choose a favourite author, but I'm Eibhilin on Goodreads if you want to see what I like to read. :)

Epistolary books/letters: I also love epistolary books and letters and post in general. This probably explains why I love Postcrossing, Swapbotting and the like so much! There's something about letters, journal entries and ephemera that really gets me. :) I recently discovered the world of stories sent by letter, and am a firm fan of The Flower Letters and their stories. I'm signed up to two for me, and one my sister and I went halves on and we're sharing it. :) We bought one of the subscriptions for her for her birthday and she loved it. :)

Baking and cooking: I love baking and cooking and find pottering about in the kitchen and making things very theraputic. I recently hosted a fire pit social evening for the games group, and loved hosting and cooking for it: I got the amount of food needed almost bang on and was very proud! I love food in general, and will try anything and like most things!

Board games: I love board games and it's a hobby that my husband and I got into together. We play games at home and with friends. We're currently playing Sagrada Legacy with friends and the games group is one of my favourite parts of the week. Running the group is a fab thing to do and I love that we've created a community where people feel comfortable and where we all have fun and get on well. :)

Music: I love musicals and I like most music, although I'm terrible at knowing song titles! I learn and remember lyrics really quickly, ( and can generally join in with a song new to me about half way through), and I go to the theatre a lot.

Puzzles: I like puzzles of all sorts! I like escape rooms, ( both in person and the board game versions), riddles and the like, and I like to keep my brain busy. :) I especially like word puzzles and have a real affinity for them.

Cinema/TV: aside from jumpy horror films, I like most films! I like period dramas, and am enjoying the new All Creatures Great and Small and the new Forsytes series, and can rewatch films endlessly - my husband is the opposite, and can rewatch things after a few years. ;)

Hot drinks: I like hot chocolate and fruity and herbal teas, and flavoured coffees - black coffee is too strong!
